Motopark will once again feature strong Mexican representation in the 2026 Euroformula Open season as the German team has officially announced that 17-year-old Lorenzo Castillo will join its line-up alongside returning driver Diego de la Torre.
As a result, the squad continues its commitment to nurturing emerging talent from Mexico, a country often referred to as the land of the royal eagle. With two drivers from the nation in its programme, Motopark aims to build on its reputation for developing young single-seater prospects.
Castillo steps up in his single-seater career joining Motopark for 2026 Euroformula Open
Castillo arrives at the team after competing in Eurocup-3 and Spanish Formula 4. Before progressing to European single-seater racing, the young driver built his foundation in karting within his home country.
Now, he prepares to take the next step in his career as he makes his Euroformula Open debut. During the season, Castillo will race the Tom’s-powered Dallara 324, a car that has become a central platform for rising talents aiming to advance through the single-seater ladder.
Moreover, the move marks Castillo’s third season in formula racing, highlighting a steady progression through competitive junior categories.
Castillo expressed both pride and determination as he prepares to start the season with the German squad.
“I’m proud to join Motopark for the Euroformula Open season. I know how professional they are and will give my best and work as hard as I can to get the best results”
Motopark confident in Castillo’s development
Meanwhile, Team Manager Roland Rehfeld emphasised the team’s commitment to helping the Mexican driver develop further during the campaign.
“¡Bienvenido, Lorenzo! Coming from Spanish Formula 4 in 2024 and Eurocup-3 in 2025, Lorenzo will start his third season in single-seaters. We are glad to boost up his progression to become a more complete race driver, reflecting our strength in developing young talents. Lorenzo fits well into our Euroformula campaign, with a larger amount of seat time in official races as well as in private testing, where we have already seen solid progression.”
With Castillo joining the programme and Diego de la Torre returning for another year, Motopark heads into the 2026 Euroformula Open season with a clear focus on development and results.
Consequently, the team hopes that its new signings will translate into strong performances on track. At the same time, Castillo now faces an important opportunity to demonstrate his potential on one of Europe’s recognised junior single-seater stages.
