After decades of racing in Toronto, IndyCar is venturing into a new chapter that puts the sport in the heart of one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities. Beginning in 2026, the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy will take place in Markham, Ontario, under a multi-year agreement announced jointly by Green Savoree Toronto ULC, the City of Markham, and IndyCar.
The NTT IndyCar Series will debut on a brand-new temporary street circuit in Markham Centre, the city’s fast-growing downtown core, from August 14 – 16, 2026.
“Markham is a growing, diverse, and dynamic city and will provide a terrific showcase for our exhilarating wheel-to-wheel racing,” said Mark Miles, President and CEO of Penske Entertainment. “We simply cannot wait for this new chapter to begin next year.”
Track layout
The new 2.19-mile (3.52 km) layout features 12 turns, a double-sided pit lane, long straights, and a mix of technical sectors. The track will run in the eastern precinct of downtown Markham, between Kennedy Road, Enterprise Boulevard, the Unionville GO Line, and Highway 407.
With connections to major transit routes, the VIVA Rapid Transit system, and access to Unionville GO Station, the location is fan-friendly and projected to draw over 140,000 attendees during its inaugural weekend.

Boosting the Canadian economy
Furthermore, the event is expected to generate tens of millions of dollars in economic activity across tourism, hospitality, and regional business, setting up base in Ontario, which aims to be a world-class destination for sporting events.
“This iconic event will continue to call Ontario home,” said Ontario Minister of Sport Neil Lumsden.
“It will boost our economy and strengthen Ontario’s reputation as a destination for world-class sporting events.”
Ontario Honda Dealers’ journey continues
The Ontario Honda Dealers will continue as the title sponsor, with Free Fan Friday making a return — a tradition that has raised over $1 million for Make-A-Wish Canada since 2010. The event will also maintain its focus on community support, featuring local charities, fan activations, food trucks, and other interactive experiences.
The move is especially meaningful to James Hinchcliffe, IndyCar race winner, FOX Sports analyst, and Markham native.
Since 1986, the Ontario Indy has seen champions like Scott Dixon, Will Power, Josef Newgarden, Dario Franchitti, and Alex Tagliani take the checkered flag. The Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham aims to build on that legacy with a modern racing experience, community engagement, and a spotlight on Canadian motorsport.
