Dale Coyne Racing have made some big announcements ahead of the Detroit Grand Prix this weekend, with highly respected engineer Michael Cannon returning to the IndyCar paddock following his sudden exit from PREMA earlier this year. Mike Colliver has also made his return to the squad. They replace Ed Nathman and John Dick respectively.
He returns to Dale Coyne after a six-year spell from 2014 to 2020. The veteran engineer has also worked for ECR, AJ Foyt and Chip Gansssi Racing in the past. His expertise for the Indy 500 is well known as the Foyt cars have been consistent front runners at the famous IndyCar round in recent years.
Michael Cannon will be engineer to Rinus VeeKay, with the Dutch driver doing a mighty job in his first season at Dale Coyne Racing. He has secured three top 10s, including a brilliant P4 at Barber. The 24-year-old narrowly missed out on the podium that day. He is 11th in the standings.
Mike Colliver served as a consulting engineer for DCR in 2024. He engineered Ryan Hunter-Reay at this year’s Indianapolis 500, where the former series champion and winner of the 500 was running up front and contending for the win before a heartbreaking issue at his final pit stop ended his chance at a victory after leading in the penultimate stint.
