Creventic has unveiled an exciting new qualifying format for January’s Michelin 24H Dubai, introducing a Top 10 Shoot-Out session for the first time in the history of the Michelin 24H Series. Alongside this major development, organisers have also confirmed important revisions to the Balance of Performance (BOP) system within the GT3 class.

As the final round of the 2025/2026 Michelin 24H Series Middle East Trophy, the Dubai event continues to evolve, promising increased drama and fairness both in qualifying and across the race weekend.

Top 10 shoot-out makes its series debut

To begin with, the introduction of the single-lap Top 10 Shoot-Out marks a significant shift in qualifying procedures. This new session will follow immediately after the standard qualifying segments and will feature only the fastest 10 GT3 cars based on aggregate times.

Each selected driver will complete an out-lap before embarking on a single flying lap, with grid positions for the first five rows decided entirely by this high-pressure run. Consequently, the format places a premium on precision and composure, offering a thrilling spectacle for fans and a unique challenge for drivers.

Importantly, Creventic has already tested this concept successfully in the Michelin 992 Endurance Cup powered by Porsche Motorsport at Spa-Francorchamps. Its popularity among teams, drivers and spectators ultimately led to its adoption for the series’ flagship Middle East Trophy event.

GT3 Balance of Performance system revised

Alongside the new qualifying format, Creventic has introduced key changes to the GT3 Balance of Performance. These adjustments aim to ensure a level playing field, particularly within the new Shoot-Out session.

Under the revised system, all GT3 cars will run at the same mechanical performance level, regardless of whether they are entered in PRO, PRO-AM or AM categories. Previously, AM entries benefited from higher power, while PRO entries carried additional ballast. However, these distinctions will no longer apply.

As a result, the revised BOP creates a more equitable environment, allowing drivers of similar grading to compete directly against one another without technical disparities influencing performance.

Fairer competition across driver categories

Crucially, the BOP changes also enhance opportunities for AM drivers competing within PRO-AM and PRO line-ups. By aligning performance levels across all GT3 entries, Creventic aims to make intra-class competition more meaningful and accessible.

This adjustment not only benefits the Shoot-Out but also improves overall race dynamics. Drivers can now better measure their performance against peers in similar categories, leading to more transparent and competitive racing.

Proven concept drives innovation

The decision to implement these changes stems from proven success and a commitment to continuous improvement. Casper de Kort, Sporting and Technical Coordinator at Creventic, explained:

“The success of the shoot-out has been proven during the 992 Endurance Cup, so it makes perfect sense to introduce it in our biggest event as well. It has also triggered a system change in the BOP, which is not only beneficial for the shoot-out. All our teams, including those in GT3 PRO and PRO-AM, have at least one AM driver, who now benefit from the same BOP as the AM teams.

“The performance is slightly below the former AM BOP. Although the GT3s are the fastest cars on track, AM drivers can struggle with the 992 and GTX, especially in the PRO-AM and PRO classes. With this change, it will also become easier for AM drivers in the PRO-AM and PRO classes to overtake within their respective classes.”

In conclusion, the introduction of the Top 10 Shoot-Out and revised GT3 Balance of Performance signals a bold step forward for the Michelin 24H Series. By combining innovation with fairness, Creventic continues to refine the competitive landscape of endurance racing.

With heightened stakes in qualifying and a more balanced field, the 2026 Michelin 24H Dubai promises to deliver an even more compelling and unpredictable spectacle.
