Two-time FIA Formula E World Championship runner-up Nick Cassidy will make a full-time return to the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) next year, after being confirmed as part of Team Peugeot TotalEnergies’ 2026 Hypercar line-up.
Although Cassidy is widely recognised for his success in single-seaters, finishing inside the top three in Formula E for the last three seasons, he also brings significant endurance racing experience. Three years ago, he competed for AF Corse in FIA WEC’s LMGTE Am category, achieving two top-five finishes.
His endurance credentials are further strengthened by appearances in the Rolex 24 At Daytona and five seasons in Japan’s Super GT Series, where he claimed the championship in 2017.
Cassidy on joining Peugeot for 2026 WEC campaign
Cassidy expressed his enthusiasm for the move and the opportunity to race at the pinnacle of endurance racing. “I’m very proud to be joining Peugeot for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship,” said the 31-year-old Auckland native. “Racing for such an iconic brand in endurance racing – especially at the 24 Hours of Le Mans – is a dream opportunity. I look forward to contributing to the team’s ambitions and taking on the challenge ahead.”
Before his full-time entry in 2026, Cassidy will join Peugeot at Circuit of The Americas in Texas for the six-hour Lone Star Le Mans, round six of the 2025 FIA WEC campaign, taking part in garage support for the team (5-7 September).
Following the race, Cassidy will get his first experience in the Peugeot 9X8 Hypercar during a test session two days later, alongside the team’s test and development driver, Théo Pourchaire.
Peugeot welcomes Cassidy
Peugeot Sport Technical Director Olivier Jansonnie highlighted Cassidy’s value to the programme. “We are delighted to welcome Nick to the Peugeot programme,” Jansonnie said. “His experience in various disciplines, his technical approach and his speed make him a valuable asset for the team. This session in Austin will be an important first contact with the Peugeot 9X8, ahead of his official entry into our full-time line-up in 2026.”
Therefore, with his blend of single-seater speed and endurance experience, Cassidy is poised to make an immediate impact in Peugeot’s Hypercar programme as it prepares for the 2026 FIA WEC season.
