Nissan Formula E has started out in the strongest way the 2025/2026 Formula E season by achieving two podium finishes in a row with Oliver Rowland. The Japanese manufacturer achieved the feat with their reigning Champion, who starting from P8 managed to have a strong recovery. His great run was aided by his through and well thought out energy management, as well as som great strategical assistance from his team.
A strong team performance
Nissan Formula E Team Principal Tommaso Volpe summed up the significant Saturday spent by his team at the Mexico City E-Prix. The Italian highlighted the importance of the double points finish in securing points for the team’s fight for the team’s championship, where Nissan stands in third place, just like its driver Rowland in the drivers’standings.
“We’re very proud to have scored a positive result here. It’s always a great experience to be in Mexico, which is like our second home. We love the opportunity to catch up with our colleagues, dealers, media, and fans every year.”
In order to defend the achievements of Season 11 and to return on top of the podium, additional work will be required. Such strong performance area need because of the strength of the current Formula E field. Competition is tight, even with less drivers at the starting line.
“We’ve had a very intense and rewarding week, and it’s great to end it on the podium. Two podiums in two races marks a strong start to the season, so far. However, the field is really tight there is still room for improvement.”
“We’re delighted with Oli’s podium and we know that Norman could have scored more points too without a bit of bad luck. As a team we feel we have better pace than last year. So, we will keep pushing to continue improving and maintain this momentum until the end in the fight for all the titles.” Volpe rounded off his vision of Nissan Formula E ‘s Mexico City E-Prix. In particular, he foxused on each driver’s own day, its perks and its downturns.
A weekend to build confidence for the resto of the season
Norman Nato smiles from his tenth place achieved at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. In fact, he believes his recovery pace is a positive sign for the upcoming rounds. The Frenchman narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Duels, and was forced to a P12 start. Unfortunately, his race was hindered by early contact with Envision’s Eriksson, which sent him towards the back of the field. At the end, however, Nato managed to recover a point finish form Nissan Formula E for the Mexico City E-Prix.
“Qualifying was really tight. We narrowly missed the Duels, which was frustrating as a small amount of time can be the difference between several positions. The race was quite open, we did well at the start but some contact put us back.”
“We still managed to finish in the points but it could have been more, which is encouraging for future races. The strategy was strong, saving energy at the start of the race to push at the end. We’ve proven again that we have the pace, so we need to keep working hard for Miami.”
