After a five-week break, Formula E is back on track! In round 6 of the 2025/2026 Formula E season, the full-electric vehicles will be running on Circuito del Jarama at the Madrid E-Prix. Currently, Pascal Wehrlein and Edoardo Mortara are fighting for the championship lead with just a six-point gap. The Madrid E-Prix single-header not only marks the first European race weekend of the season, but also the Rookie test, where the young racing talents get in the electric car. Additionally, it is the home race for the Spanish Rookie Pepe Martí.
Debut, but nothing new
It is the inaugural race weekend in the capital of Spain. Although in season 11 the racetrack was used during pre-season testing, as the original host was unable to hold race sessions. Ever since the track received much praise from the drivers, Madrid was added to the calendar.
Circuito del Jarama has a track length of 3.934 kilometers with 14 turns. Especially interesting are turns 1 and 7. As the drivers dive into the session, they are confronted with a hairpin that provides race action from the very start. At turn 7, ATTACK MODE is located uphill — the elevation of the track will without a doubt challenge the drivers.
PIT BOOST at a single-header?
Until now, PIT BOOSTs were only held at double-headers. However, in Madrid, the PIT BOOST returns! This means that the drivers will have to do a 30-second mandatory pit stop, where they receive 10% of energy to their battery. The six-minute ATTACK MODE will also take place.
A look at the championship standings ahead of the Madrid E-Prix 2026
In the first five championship rounds, five different drivers won the E-Prix. Jake Dennis won in São Paulo, Nick Cassidy in Mexico, and Mitch Evans in Miami. During the last race weekend in Jeddah, Wehrlein and Antonio Da Costa won rounds 4 and 5. Jaguar TSC Racing is the only team with two race-winners. However, looking at the championship standings, TAG Heuer Porsche has the most points. As it stands, Porsche is at the top with 113 points, creating a 27-point gap to Jaguar.
In the drivers’ standings, Wehrlein and Mortara are fighting for the championship lead. Whereas the German has already won an E-Prix, the Swiss racing driver hasn’t. Mortara’s best finish was P2, which he achieved twice. ortara’s best finish was P2, which he achieved twice. Notably, Mortara started two E-Prix from pole position but couldn’t maintain the position throughout the race. Wehrlein managed to start on pole just once, at the season opener in Brazil.
Current world champion Oliver Rowland sits in the standings with just 49 points to his name. Even though the gap between Mortara and Rowland is much larger – thirteen points – he is certainly not out of the championship fight.
What to expect from round 6 in the 2025/2026 Formula E season?
