Rebel Rock Racing has announced its move to the GT World Challenge (GTWC) America Championship for the 2026 season, signalling the next phase in the Florida-based team’s steady growth. As a result, the team will field one of its brand-new Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO machines, extending its partnership with Aston Martin into a third consecutive season.
By stepping into the SRO’s premier North American GT series, Rebel Rock Racing underlines its ambition to compete at a higher level. Moreover, the move reflects the team’s confidence in both its drivers and its evolving technical package.
Embracing a new endurance format
At the same time, the championship has introduced sweeping changes to its race weekend structure. Organisers have replaced the previous format of two 90-minute sprint races with a single three-hour endurance feature.
Consequently, this adjustment places greater emphasis on strategy, tyre management and pit execution. Although the format marks a significant shift for the series, Rebel Rock Racing welcomes the change. The team brings substantial endurance experience to the grid, including a class victory at the four-hour IMPC event at Road Atlanta in 2020.
Therefore, the longer format should play to the squad’s strengths rather than present an obstacle.
Rebel Rock Racing’s Liddell ready for the 2026 GTWC America challenge
Team Principal and co-driver Robin Liddell has expressed clear enthusiasm about the step up in competition and machinery. He said:
“I’m really looking forward to campaigning our new GT3 Aston Martin Vantage with Frank in the GTWC series this year. We had a lot of fun driving the car in a recent test at Sebring but we also recognize it is a decent step up in terms of increased performance as well as a new technical challenge. So after some deliberation we decided that the GTWC series would be the ideal place for us to compete in 2026 as we look to make that jump and get to grips with the new car.”
His comments highlight both excitement and realism. While the new GT3 EVO offers increased performance, it also demands technical adaptation. Nevertheless, the team has already gained valuable mileage during testing at Sebring International Raceway, which should ease the transition.
Ultimately, Rebel Rock Racing’s decision demonstrates clear forward momentum. The partnership with Aston Martin continues to strengthen, while the move to a more strategically demanding championship aligns with the team’s endurance pedigree.
As 2026 approaches, Rebel Rock Racing prepares not merely to participate but to compete at the sharp end of the grid.
