Championship winner Oliver Rowland didn’t manage to score a single point over the two legs of the final Formula E double header held in London. In fact, the Nissan driver had completed a strong recovery drive on Saturday, ending his race right outside of the top 10 after missing out on the Duels stage during Qualifying.

The worst was yet to come

His Sunday was even less positive, as he firstly made contact with the wall while trying to pass Nyck de Vries, picking up a significant deal of front wing damage. Afterwards, he ended his and Nico Muller’s race on Lap 16 by going straight onto him after the Andretti driver had passed him.

Overall, Rowland was rather displeased with the way Season 11 of Formula E ended for him in London, as he told selected medias including Pit Debrief after the end of the race:

Yeah, I’m still pretty annoyed about the race to be honest, I thought I did a really good job up until about lap 12, 13 and then yeah, obviously the end result wasn’t great in the race, so I’m a bit disappointed myself.”

Just a final bad spot

In spite of ending on such a bad note, Rowland is still obviously satisfied with the way his 2025 has been going so far.

“But in the grand scheme of things, the championships were another 16 races, so we did a great job, is it 16? Yeah, we did a great job. I think we were consistent throughout the season. We were able to perform at our best when we were capable of winning. That’s what’s important. Obviously very happy to share the podium with my family and looking forward to a little bit of time off.

Ultimately, the manufacturer and team’s championships both were awarded to Porsche, with Nissan still in contention for them at the beginning of the weekend. It’s definitely not a great feeling for the Japanese constructors and team, although Nissan has still achieved some goals unthinkable ahead of just a few years ago.

Yeah, of course I think everybody’s a bit disappointed. But I think we have to realise the journey we’ve been on. When I joined back we finished 9th or 10th in the Constructors and Teams Championship. We’ve come on this journey where last year I finished 4th in the Drivers and we’re 1st in the Drivers. 3rd in the Teams this year.

This track didn’t seem to suit us for performance. We improved a lot today, I just missed the duels by a fraction. Then honestly the race was going quite well and I was able to race well. So they did a great job turning it around. But we knew I had to go for it today because obviously the Jaguars were at the front. “

Still a positive Season 11

“We needed to try and score some big points to not lose second. Unfortunately when you have an element of risk sometimes there’s no reward.” Rowland concluded, summing up the importance of the weekend and the rather difficult challenge him and his team had to tackle in order to try and upset the result.

Ultimately, Rowland also recounted the event which led to his final DNF of the season, the accided which saw him collide with Muller.

Yeah, I mean we were obviously braking for Turn 1, he pushed me towards the inside under braking. I locked up, went deep and then as I tried to rejoin he took the line. Honestly I didn’t even see him until it was too late. So I had no chance to react, so yeah we’ll see what the stewards say afterwards.
