RPM has confirmed the re-signing of Giovanni Maschio as part of its driver line-up for the 2026 Formula Regional European Championship (FREC) and Formula Regional Middle East (FRME) Trophy.
The Italian driver will enter his fourth consecutive season with the team in Europe, continuing one of the longest-standing partnerships on the current Formula Regional grid. The agreement also sees Maschio remain involved in the Middle East Trophy as he prepares for another full European campaign.
Maschio expressed confidence in the continuity and the new technical challenge ahead.
“Super happy to start a new challenge with the team,” he said. “With the new car it is going to be really challenging. I already know the team very well, so I’m sure we will achieve good results this year.”
Building experience through continuity
Born on 11 October 2006, Maschio made his single-seater debut in the 2022 Italian Formula 4 Championship. After gaining early experience with AS Motorsport and later R-ace GP, he stepped up to Formula Regional level in 2023.
He contested FREC that year with Monolite Racing, following preparation in the Formula Regional Middle East Championship. The season allowed him to adapt to the higher level of competition and the demands of regional machinery.
Maschio joined RPM for the 2024 FREC, marking the start of a long-term collaboration. He combined that campaign with another FRME season and scored points in both championships, highlighting steady progression.
In 2025, Maschio continued with RPM for a third European season. He delivered his strongest performances to date, including a career-best eighth-place finish at Spa-Francorchamps. Additional points at Monza helped him finish 17th in the overall standings with six points, representing his most competitive season so far.
Focused on 2026
The 2026 campaign will see Maschio return to FREC with increased experience and familiarity with the team environment. RPM’s decision to retain him reflects confidence in his development and potential to take another step forward as the regulations and cars evolve.
With continuity on both sides of the garage, Maschio and RPM aim to convert experience into more consistent points finishes and stronger results across both championships in the year ahead.
