Hillspeed’s Freddie Slater is relishing his upcoming return to the 2025 GB3 Championship partnered by the BRDC at Brands Hatch on 23/24 August. The British driver topped official testing at the Kent circuit last week, reaffirming his speed as he prepares for his third GB3 outing of 2025.

A winning record already

Slater has already made his mark in the championship despite a part-time campaign. Across the two rounds he has contested so far — Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps — he has secured three victories. His most remarkable success came in Belgium, where he stormed from 23rd on the grid to win race three, a performance that highlighted both his racecraft and determination.

Since Spa, the Warwickshire racer has remained busy on the international stage. He competed in the FIA Formula 3 Championship round at Spa and continues to lead the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA) standings. Nevertheless, his focus is now firmly back on GB3 as he gears up for a competitive weekend at Brands Hatch.

Topping the times in testing

An impressive performance during testing last Wednesday on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit boosted Slater’s preparation. His best lap of 1m18.634s was almost half a second quicker than the official GB3 race lap record, and it placed him ahead of championship leader Alex Ninovic and Hitech’s Deagen Fairclough. The effort confirmed that he will be among the favourites when the series returns to Kent.

Reflecting on his successful test day, Slater said: “Yeah it’s been great to come back to a track like this- Brands Hatch GP. It’s one of my favourites, so to be here in such a great car that’s so committed in the high speed with the mad downforce we have is always good fun, especially when coming back after changing the discipline I’ve been in.”

“It’s nice to jump in something different and try to adapt as quickly as possible and that was the target today. I’m all ready for the race that comes at the end of the month and I look forward to it.”

With testing form that eclipsed the race lap record and momentum from his three earlier victories, Slater returns to GB3 at Brands Hatch as one of the standout contenders. His adaptability across multiple series and his affection for the circuit leave him well placed to challenge for more silverware in his third event of the season.
