Team Penske announces serious leadership changes involving the majority of the championships they work with, ranging from IndyCar, to Endurance series such as Porsche Penske Motorsport in IMSA and WEC.

Experienced leaders for a fresh start

The announcement of the new leadership followed the radical departure of three of the most prominent and senior team members.

The event had been caused by the technical disqualification which had affected Newgarden and Power’s Indy 500 qualifying. Team President Cindric, Managing Director Ruzewski, and General Manager Moyer left the team they had been at for years. Moyer has since joined Arrow McLaren.

At the time, Captain Roger Penske had cited the technical scandals which have marred the recent history of the team who only the year before had won the 500.

Previously Managing Director of Porsche Penske Motorsport, Jonathan Diuguid has now become President of Penske Racing Inc. After 20 years with the American team overall, Diuguid has a full circle moment. In fact, he was a IndyCar race engineer for seven years at the beginning of his Penske experience.

Travis Law has assumed instead the role of Competition Director after being Competition Director for the Porsche Penske Motorsport team. The Iowa native has as well almost twenty years of Penske experience. Law’s career ranges from sports car tyre specialist to Will Power’s chief mechanic in IndyCar.

Double leading duties

After working together to lead Porsche Penske Motorsport to consecutive wins in the 24H of Daytona, the duo will now take on the challenge of leading the effort on three different championships.

Jonathan Diuguid is honoured to have risen to such a role. In fact, he commented the Penske IndyCar and Endurance leadership change announcement.

“The opportunity to lead the Team Penske efforts across the INDYCAR SERIES, IMSA and WEC is a tremendous responsibility. The feeling of being trusted to lead these teams is a great honor. After two decades working for Roger Penske, I truly know and understand what the Penske name means in the world of motorsports. The best way I know to show my appreciation to him for his trust is to ensure our success continues well into the future.”

An important role

Law as well feels the importance of his new job. He said, reckoning the significance of the team in the history of American and Worldwide racing.

Success is what is expected at Team Penske. Roger Penske is someone that leads by example. When we get to the racetrack, we know we have the support of someone who has achieved at the highest levels. I am ready to get to work.”

Team Penske will be on track for IndyCar in Mid-Ohio this weekend already, whereas both IMSA and WEC will race in Endurance next week, in Canada and Brazil respectively.
