Ferrari has confirmed that Nicklas Nielsen will remain a cornerstone of its FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Hypercar programme with a multi-year contract extension for 2026 and beyond.

Triumphs and current form

The Dane’s rise began after dominating the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Europe in 2018, before stepping up to FIA WEC in the LMGTE category. Piloting an AF Corse-run Ferrari 488 GTE Evo alongside Emmanuel Collard and François Perrodo, Nielsen clinched the championship on his first attempt.

He repeated the feat the following season and later won the LMP2 Pro-Am Cup in 2022. Since 2023, Nielsen has competed in Ferrari AF Corse’s factory Hypercar entry, the #50 499P, alongside Antonio Fuoco and Miguel Molina.

The trio triumphed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024 and won the 2025 season opener in Qatar. After securing second place at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, they sit fourth in the Drivers’ standings with two rounds remaining, 40 points behind the sister #51 Ferrari AF Corse crew, with 65 points still up for grabs.

Nielsen pleased Ferrari Hypercar contract extension for 2026 WEC and beyond

Reflecting on his renewed commitment, Nielsen said: “Continuing to be part of the group of official Ferrari drivers is both a source of pride and a great responsibility for me. In recent years, I have had the privilege of achieving wins I will never forget, above all at Le Mans in 2024, as well as the opportunity to continue improving as a driver. With great determination, I thank Ferrari and look to the future with the hope of continuing to win races and titles together while representing the Prancing Horse.”

The 28-year-old boasts 12 victories from 41 FIA WEC starts and 11 additional podiums, underlining his status as one of Ferrari’s most accomplished endurance drivers.

Antonello Coletta, Global Head of Ferrari Endurance and Corse Clienti, praised Nielsen’s career progression: “After winning the Ferrari Challenge Europe one-make series in 2018, Nicklas’ growth has been marked by many successes and titles with GT cars.

“That journey took a further step forward in 2023 with his move into the top class of FIA WEC, where he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024 in the 499P, confirming his maturity as one of Ferrari’s leading drivers. Determination and leadership are Nicklas’ hallmarks, and we are proud to continue this journey with him.”

Nielsen’s contract extension ensures that Ferrari retains one of its most proven and consistent drivers as it continues to contest the Hypercar category in the FIA WEC.
