Final Practice ahead of tomorrow’s 2026 IndyCar race at Phoenix has been completed, view the full results here.
David Malukas will start on pole position for the first time in his career for round 2 of the season as the Team Penske driver was dominant in qualifying early Friday afternoon. Teammate and oval specialist Josef Newgraden will be alongside him on the front row.
The story of qualifying was Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, however. Graham Rahal and rookie Mick Schumacher stuck their cats on the second row. Following a few years of struggles on ovals, this was a huge result for the team.
Will Power’s start to life at Andretti continued to be difficult as a crash on his second lap leaves him at the back of the field with Felix Rosenqvist. The Swede missed qualifying following a big shunt in Practice 1.
As for Chip Ganassi Racing’s multi-time champions, Alex Palou and Scott Dixon will have work to do, starting P10 and P15 on Saturday respectively. The Spaniard could lose the championship lead for the first time in over 600 days based on grid positions.
