British outfit Nielsen Racing has announced that its Formula 3 programme will compete under a new identity, Northstar Racing, beginning with the upcoming 2026 Euroformula Open season. The rebrand follows a highly successful debut year for the team in the Euroformula Open during 2025. After making an immediate impact in its first single-seater campaign, the team now aims to build a long-term presence in Formula 3-level competition while continuing to expand its racing activities.

Strong debut season in 2025

Nielsen Racing’s entry into single-seater competition delivered impressive results from the outset. The team secured victory in its first race of the season at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, marking the first European win for the new Dallara 324.

Throughout the season, the team demonstrated consistent pace and competitiveness. It achieved seven podium finishes and ultimately secured third place in the Teams’ Championship.

Driver Ed Pearson led the team’s charge during the campaign. He finished fifth in the Drivers’ standings and delivered two victories, one at Portimão and another at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Meanwhile, Theo Micouris came close to adding another victory during the final round of the season but narrowly missed out on the win.

The team’s first season in Euroformula Open also served as a development platform for emerging drivers. By offering opportunities for young talent to gain valuable experience, the programme reinforced a broader strategy focused on nurturing drivers and supporting their progression to higher levels of motorsport.

Nielsen Racing rebrands Euroformula Open programme as Northstar Racing

As the project evolves under the Northstar Racing name, the organisation aims to expand its influence in Formula 3-level competition while maintaining the competitive philosophy that has defined Nielsen Racing’s achievements across multiple categories.

The team has previously built a strong reputation in endurance racing, particularly within the European Le Mans Series, where it has enjoyed significant success.

Looking ahead, Northstar Racing plans to field a three-car entry in the 2026 Euroformula Open season. The team has yet to confirm its full driver line-up and programme details, which it will reveal at a later stage.

However, the expanded entry highlights the team’s growing commitment to the championship and its ambition to establish itself as a leading contender.

Team Principal Sven Thompson emphasised the importance of ambition and long-term development as the team moves forward under its new identity.

“Entering Euroformula last year was all about proving to ourselves that we could step into a new world and immediately make an impact. For me, the real excitement comes from building something new and watching it grow. We started with almost nothing in sportscars, just two Radicals, a van, and a trailer, and reached a Le Mans podium in eight years. Northstar Racing carries that same spirit forward, an ambitious, future-focused team committed to developing talent, creating opportunity, and setting bold goals to push every driver toward the highest levels of the sport.”

With the rebrand complete and preparations underway for the next campaign, Northstar Racing now aims to build on its strong debut and continue its rise within the Euroformula Open paddock.
