The race for round 2 of the 2026 Indy NXT season has been completed at Arlington, view the full results here.
Alessandro de Tullio started on pole position thanks to a stunning lap in qualifying, beating Enzo Fittipaldi by a tenth as they were fastest in their respective groups. Tymek Kucharczyk (P3) and Max Taylor (P2) in St. Pete lined up on the second row. Championship leader Nikita Johnson went off from P6.
Indy NXT veterans Lochie Hughes and Myles Rowe were looking to make progress as they only managed P8 and P10 in qualifying.
The start was a complete mess. As they were bunching up together for the start, Colin Kaminsky ended up in the wall.
Australian Jack Beeton also delivered one of the biggest jump starts ever seen as he was miles clear of the pack before the aforementioned incident happened. Unsurprisingly, he was sent to the back of the field.
In more drama, Kucharczyk tagged de Tullio into turn 10, sending the polesitter down the run-off. No further action was the decision.
At the front, Fittipaldi got his elbows out and brilliantly fended off Tymek Kucharczyk after the Pole had got down the inside into turn 12. He got the switchback out of the corner. Following them very closely, Max Taylor got involved, making a crazy move into T14 on the Polish driver. Somehow he got it stopped without hitting Fittipaldi and went P2.
A second caution was thrown as de Alba and Pierson had an awkward touch at turn 14. The driver of car #29 ended up in the wall and his day was done. The Mexican got involved in more contact on the restart with Myles Rowe and spun.
Max Taylor strikes
With less than two minutes remaining, Max Taylor made a brilliant move on Enzo Fittipaldi as he got a better exit out of turn 12 and took the lead as the Brazilian got a bit wide on entry. He drove away at the end and set the fastest lap. The Andretti driver also takes the points lead.
