Newgarden and Johnson lead the way ahead of the races
Following wins at Phoenix and St. Pete respectively, Josef Newgarden and Nikita Johnson were the championship leaders heading into Sunday’s IndyCar and Indy NXT races.
2026 IndyCar standings after Arlington
Kyle Kirkwood drove an absolutely outstanding race from P7 on the grid. Despite some dodgy stops, he chased down Alex Palou and passed the Spaniard with 16 laps to go. The win sees him go top of the championship.
Andretti had an absolutely incredible day as Will Power and Marcus Ericsson backed up Kirkwood to complete a 1-3-4. It is the Aussie’s first podium with the team. Pato O’Ward was solid and consistent once again, bagging a 5th place.
Malukas, Lundgaard, Dixon, Rossi and Armstrong completed the top 10.

2026 Indy NXT standings after Arlington
A late charge by Max Taylor saw him pass Tymek Kucharczyk and Enzo Fittipaldi to win in Arlington and take the points lead from Nikita Johnson by ten. The Polish driver is 3rd after Sunday’s race.
Lochie Hughes who finished 3rd in the championship in 2025, is now 4th in the points. Seb Murray is 5th, while Enzo Fittipaldi vaults up the standings. 17th at St. Pete, he was a strong 2nd on Sunday. Correa, Rowe, de Tullio and Missig complete the top 10.
