FP1 at the Madrid E-Prix marked the start of Formula E’s first European race weekend of the 2026 season, with drivers and teams getting their first taste of the Spanish circuit as the championship entered a crucial phase.
The paddock arrived in Madrid with momentum building after an intense opening stretch to the season, as the fight at the top of the standings continued to take shape. With several drivers already staking their claim as early contenders, every lap in the sole practice session proved vital.
As a tight and technical circuit, Madrid presented a unique challenge, putting energy management and precision at the forefront. With limited track time available, teams needed to maximise every minute to fine-tune their setups ahead of the weekend.
Several drivers were also looking to rebound after difficult previous rounds, while others aimed to carry their strong form into Europe. With the field closer than ever, FP1 offered a first indication of who could have the early edge in Madrid.
