Alex O’Grady will remain with KMR Sport as he prepares for a second season in the GB4 Championship in 2026. The Irish driver continues his relationship with the multiple title-winning team following an impressive rookie campaign.
Still only 16 and set to turn 17 later this month, O’Grady has already established himself as one of the most promising talents on the grid. Therefore, his return signals clear intent from both driver and team to challenge at the front.
Strong rookie season sets the foundation
O’Grady made a significant impact during his first year in British single-seater racing. He secured eighth place in the final standings, consistently demonstrating pace and maturity beyond his experience level.
Moreover, he delivered standout performances throughout the season, steadily building confidence and refining his racecraft. As a result, he positioned himself as a key figure within KMR Sport’s GB4 campaign.
The highlight of O’Grady’s season came at Oulton Park, where he excelled in difficult conditions. He claimed a breakthrough victory in the opening race of the weekend, showcasing both skill and composure.
He followed that success with an impressive second-place finish in the next race, underlining his ability to compete at the front. Consequently, this weekend marked a turning point in his season and confirmed his potential as a race winner.
O’Grady maintained his strong form through to the end of the campaign. During the Donington Park season finale in October, he secured another podium finish, reinforcing his upward trajectory.
This consistent improvement allowed him to lead KMR Sport’s charge in GB4, while also building momentum heading into the off-season.
Proven pedigree before GB4
Before stepping into GB4, O’Grady had already demonstrated his talent across multiple disciplines. In 2024, he competed in French F4, where he achieved two podium finishes against a competitive field.
Earlier in his career, he enjoyed notable success in karting. His achievements included winning the Irish Cadet title and securing victory at the IAME World Finals in 2019. These accomplishments laid the groundwork for his transition into single-seater racing.
Early preparations signal intent
Looking ahead to 2026, O’Grady has wasted no time in returning to the track. He has already resumed testing with KMR Sport, completing productive sessions at Silverstone and Donington Park on their Grand Prix circuits.
These early outings have delivered positive results, enabling him to fine-tune his performance and strengthen his understanding of the car. Consequently, he enters the new season with confidence and clear ambitions.
O’Grady has made his goals for the upcoming season clear, shifting his focus from development to championship contention:
“I’m very happy to be staying onboard with KMR Sport for another season in the GB4 Championship. A massive thanks to Kevin and Tom [Mills] for giving me this opportunity, I can’t wait to be working together again. We showed very strong pace particularly at the end of the 2025 season, and I’m looking forward to carrying that into 2026. Last season was a year of learning and developing our car, now it’s time to go for the title.”
KMR Sport Team Principal Kevin Mills has also expressed strong belief in O’Grady’s potential to fight at the front:
“We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Alex back to the team for a second season with us in 2026. He proved on numerous occasions this year that he was every bit as quick as the title contenders were, and with a bit more fortune, he could have been much closer to them in the final standings. With a season together, I’m really confident that we can push for wins again in 2026, we want to be fighting for the title again, and we have full belief that Alex can be a massive part of that for us.”
A title challenge in sight
As O’Grady prepares for his second GB4 season, he carries momentum, experience, and proven race-winning ability. With KMR Sport’s continued support and a clear focus on results, he now aims to convert potential into a sustained title challenge.
Ultimately, the 2026 season represents a pivotal opportunity. If he maintains his upward trajectory, O’Grady could emerge as one of the leading contenders for the GB4 crown.
