Dayton Coulthard will remain with Douglas Motorsport for the 2026 GB4 Championship, continuing a partnership that delivered strong progress during his rookie campaign. The 17-year-old Scotsman now prepares to build on that foundation as he targets a sustained challenge at the front.
Coulthard made his car racing and single-seater debut with Wayne Douglas’ squad in 2025. From the outset, he showed determination to adapt quickly, and as the season unfolded, he translated that effort into clear on-track improvements. Therefore, his return provides both continuity and momentum heading into the new campaign.
Steady progress evolves into front-running pace
Coulthard’s development followed a clear upward trajectory throughout 2025. He secured a breakthrough podium at Oulton Park in difficult conditions, which marked an early highlight and demonstrated his ability to perform under pressure.
As the season progressed, he established himself as a consistent top-10 contender, particularly during the second half of the year. At the same time, he showed significant gains in outright pace, as evidenced by a series of top-seven qualifying performances across the final three race weekends.
These improvements allowed him to compete more regularly at the sharp end of the grid. Consequently, he finished the season as the second-highest placed rookie, underlining both his consistency and his rapid development.
Coulthard’s standout moment came during the season finale at Donington Park, where he claimed his maiden GB4 victory. Starting from sixth on the grid, he immediately moved into contention and challenged the race leader in the early stages.
He then executed a decisive overtaking move at the Old Hairpin with just two laps remaining, securing a memorable win. This performance not only highlighted his racecraft but also confirmed his potential to fight for victories on a regular basis.
Preparation underway for title challenge
Following the conclusion of the season, Coulthard returned to testing with Douglas Motorsport to maintain momentum. These sessions allow him to refine his performance and strengthen his understanding of the car ahead of his second season.
With experience now on his side, he approaches 2026 with greater confidence and clearer objectives. His focus has shifted from development to delivering consistent front-running results.
“I’m determined to come back and win the GB4 Championship with Douglas Motorsport next year. It’s shaping up to be a massive series again in 2026, and if I can win it and be in the fight throughout, that’s going to be a huge benefit to my future career. With the team, we’re going to do everything we can before the season to make sure we’re in the best shape possible to make this a reality.”
Team Principal Wayne Douglas has expressed strong belief in Coulthard’s ability to take the next step. He highlighted the driver’s rapid development and his growing competitiveness as key factors for optimism.
“It’s a pleasure to welcome Dayton back to the team for next year’s GB4 Championship. Considering his experience levels before the season, he did a great job in 2025, built up his speed and confidence, and was with the top-six on merit towards the end of the year. His win at Donington proved his potential, and with a year of experience to fall back on, we really hope to see similar performances from him in 2026.”
This endorsement reflects the team’s confidence in its driver as well as its ambition to compete for top honours.
Eyes firmly on the prize
Coulthard now enters his second GB4 season with proven race-winning ability, consistent pace, and a strong team environment. Together, these elements create a solid platform for a championship challenge.
As a result, he stands as one of the drivers to watch in 2026. If he continues his upward trajectory and delivers consistent performances, he could emerge as a leading contender for the GB4 title.
