An early VSC
Noel León caused an early Virtual Safety Car as the Campos Racing driver spun at turn 7 and could not get going.
At the final corner, Sebastian Montoya had a massive snap but managed to keep his PREMA out of the wall.
Disaster for Campos Racing in 2026 F2 Miami Practice
With Noel León out already, championship leader Nikola Tsolov then grinded to a halt at turn 12 with some technical issue on his car. It meant Campos Racing had virtually no data heading into Qualifying later today.
Down at turn 1, Inthraphuvasak had a massive lock-up just before the red flags appeared.
van Hoepen on a 1:41.864 led Herta, Tsolov, Beganovic and Mini with 23 minutes to go as the action got going once more.
At the turn 14/15 chicane, Rafael Villagómez had to use the run-off as he had a snap of oversteer while trying to turn in. Câmara had a similar moment later in the session.
Ireland’s Alex Dunne logged a 1:40.999 to be the first driver below the 1:41 marker in a truncated session.
With 15 minutes to go, van Hoepen logged a 1:40.480 to lead Joshua Dürksen by 0.152s. Villagómez, Maini, Varrone, Beganovic, Montoya, Stenshorne, Câmara and Inthraphuvasak completed the top 10.
ART driver Kush Maini pumped in a 1:40.336 to displace the Dutch driver from top spot. Colton Herta moved into P3, ahead of Goethe, Beganovic, Dürksen, Villagómez, Miyata, Minì and Inthraphuvasak with less than five minutes left.
Roman Bilinski only appeared for an out lap at the end as the DAMS driver had electrical gremlins throughout 2026 F2 Miami GP Practice.
Herta delivers late surge as van Hoepen finds the wall in 2026 F2 Miami GP Practice
Home hero and Hitech’s Colton Herta ended up quickest as a late lap of a 1:40.320 saw him pip Kush Maini by 0.016s. Laurens van Hoepen, who ended up P3, spun at turn 7 and clipped the wall, damaging his front wing and causing late yellows.
Beganovic, Goethe, Dürksen, Dunne, Villagómez, Miyata and Minì rounded out the top 10 in a dramatic session. 0.452s covered the top 15.
