The 2026 F2 Miami GP Practice session saw the Formula 2 grid take to the Miami International Autodrome for the first time in the championship’s history. With early troubles for Campos Racing halting the first half of the session, it was Colton Herta who topped the timesheets in the weekend’s sole Practice session.
An early Virtual Safety Car was brought out for Noel León after the Campos Racing driver spun at Turn 7, leaving his car stranded on track. Shortly after, Nikola Tsolov stopped on track at Turn 13, triggering a Red Flag.
With 15 minutes remaining, the top of the order continued to change rapidly, as Dunne, Minì, Beganovic, Van Hoepen and Dürksen all spent time near the head of the timings.
Late in the session Maini and Van Hoepen each climbed to the top of the leaderboard, while Herta jumped to third after setting a purple middle sector. The field remained incredibly tight, with the top 16 drivers covered by less than nine-tenths of a second heading into the final runs.
The drivers continued to lock up on track in the final moments, but it was Herta who rose to the top of the timings with a 1:40.320 for the F2 Miami GP Practice session.
