After a sudden break from F1, due to the cancellation of two races, the 2026 season returns for its fourth round at the Miami International Autodrome.
A few weeks ago, the FIA announced FP1 would be extended at the Miami GP. As F1 stakeholders look to improve 2026 regulations, the session will now last 90 minutes, instead of 60, to give drivers and teams additional preparation ahead of the demanding race weekend.
As it stands, the drivers’ championship is led by Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli, closely followed by teammate George Russell. The top 10 is completed by Leclerc, Hamilton, Norris, Piastri, Bearman, Gasly, Verstappen, and Lawson. Currently, Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren cleanly lead the pack, as other teams fight to be the best of the rest. Nonetheless, Mercedes has set a benchmark that all teams are struggling to reach.
