The 2026 GTWC Asia season tightened significantly at Mandalika, as Phantom surged into the spotlight while Huang Ruohan and Alessandro Ghiretti retained control of the Drivers’ Championship.
Across two races in Indonesia, strategy, Safety Car timing and decisive overtaking reshaped several title battles. Cheng Congfu and Yu Kuai claimed Race 1 victory for FAW Audi Sport Asia Team Phantom, before Anthony Liu and Loek Hartog struck back with a commanding Race 2 win for Phantom Global Racing.
As a result, the championship picture now carries far more tension than it did after Sepang. Notably, Huang and Ghiretti still lead, but Phantom’s Mandalika form has pulled several rivals firmly into contention.
Huang and Ghiretti extend Drivers’ Championship lead
Huang Ruohan and Alessandro Ghiretti remain at the top of the Drivers’ Championship after Round 2 with 73 points. The Absolute Racing pair did not win at Mandalika, but they again used consistency to strengthen their position.
Their fourth place in Race 1 and second place in Race 2 added valuable points to their Sepang haul. Consequently, they now hold a 20-point advantage over Anthony Liu, who moved into second after his dominant Race 2 victory.
Meanwhile, Cheng Congfu and Yu Kuai climb to third on 40 points after converting Phantom’s Race 1 strategy into maximum reward. Andres Pato and Jaxon Evans also made major progress after finishing second in Race 1 and third in Race 2.
Akash Nandy remains firmly in the championship picture as well. Although he sits sixth on 37 points, his Silver class form continues to make him one of the standout solo performers of the season.

Absolute Racing keeps control of Teams’ Championship
Absolute Racing continues to lead the Overall Teams’ Championship with 116 points. The team again maximised its opportunities at Mandalika, even as Phantom controlled the race victories.
However, Audi Sport Asia Team Phantom now poses a serious threat. Its Race 1 one-two and strong all-round weekend lifted it to second on 79 points, cutting into Absolute Racing’s early-season advantage.
Phantom Global Racing also strengthened its position after Liu and Hartog’s Race 2 triumph. With 53 points, the team now sits third and has clear momentum heading into Shanghai.
Further back, Origine Motorsport holds fourth on 37 points, while Team KRC remains close behind on 32 after showing strong speed throughout the Indonesian weekend.

Huang and Ghiretti lead Pro-Am fight
The Pro-Am standings also favour Huang and Ghiretti, who lead the class with 76 points. Their consistent start across Sepang and Mandalika gives them a narrow but important edge.
Anthony Liu sits second on 65 points after his Race 2 win reignited his title challenge. Meanwhile, Lyu Wei and Alessio Picariello remain third on 60 points despite a difficult Mandalika weekend that included contact and a track limits penalty.
Andres Pato and Jaxon Evans made the biggest statement in the class. Their Race 1 Pro-Am victory and Race 2 podium lifted them to 56 points, keeping them within striking distance of the leaders.

Nandy dominates Silver standings
Akash Nandy continues to set the standard in Silver. After another excellent weekend, he leads the class with 86 points.
Nandy did not merely protect his advantage at Mandalika. Instead, he pushed forward again, claimed Silver honours in Race 2 and finished fourth overall despite the additional solo-driver pitstop time.
Cheng Congfu and Yu Kuai sit second on 67 points after their superb Race 1 victory. Takayuki Aoki follows on 60 points, while Deng Yi and Liu Kaishun remain close with 55.

Craft-Bamboo takes charge in Silver-Am
Dean Yu Hao Chen and Jiatong Liang now lead Silver-Am with 77 points after an excellent Mandalika round. Their double class success gave Craft-Bamboo Racing a major boost and moved them ahead of the early Sepang leaders.
Kiyoshi Uchiyama and Tsubasa Kondo sit second on 70 points, while Lichao Li and Elias Seppanen hold third with 61. Brian Lee and Maxime Oosten remain in contention on 50 points, but they will need a strong Shanghai response to close the gap.

Liu and Wang strengthen Am lead
Liu Hangcheng and Wang Zhongwei have taken firm control of the Am Drivers’ standings with 86 points. Their Mandalika class win built on a strong Sepang opener and gave Origine Motorsport a valuable cushion.
Zhou Bihuang and Setiawan Santoso sit second on 70 points, while William Ben Porter and Andrew Macpherson hold third with 67. Porter and Macpherson also benefited from late Race 2 penalties to secure Am victory, which keeps them firmly in the title race.

China Cup battle narrows after Mandalika
The China Cup standings now feature one of the closest fights in the championship. Dean Yu Hao Chen and Jiatong Liang lead with 79 points, just two points ahead of Cheng Congfu and Yu Kuai.
Deng Yi and Liu Kaishun sit third on 58 points, while Liu Hangcheng and Wang Zhongwei remain close on 49. Therefore, Shanghai could prove decisive, especially with several Chinese drivers heading into the next round with strong momentum.

Mandalika resets the title fight
Ultimately, Mandalika changed the shape of the 2026 GTWC Asia season. Huang and Ghiretti still lead the championship, but Phantom’s pace, strategy and execution have increased the pressure at the front.
Cheng and Yu’s Race 1 victory confirmed Audi Sport Asia Team Phantom’s strength, while Liu and Hartog’s Race 2 win pushed Phantom Global Racing into the title conversation. At the same time, Nandy, Chen, Liang, Liu Hangcheng and Wang Zhongwei all strengthened their respective class campaigns.
Next, the championship heads to Shanghai on 5–6 June. After Phantom’s Mandalika breakthrough, the battle for the 2026 GTWC Asia titles looks more competitive than ever.
