The 2026 GB3 Teams’ Championship will be decided at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 7–8 November, with Rodin Motorsport holding a narrow 16-point advantage over VRD Racing. Although the leading pair remain the strongest contenders, Hitech and Xcel Motorsport also retain mathematical opportunities to claim the title during the final three races of the season.
Rodin enters the finale with 758 points, having reclaimed the championship lead at Donington Park before extending its advantage at Brands Hatch. VRD follows on 742, while Hitech sits third with 691 after a remarkable late-season resurgence. Xcel completes the leading four with 665 points, leaving all four teams mathematically capable of winning the championship.
With the Brands Hatch results reshaping both championship battles, the final weekend will place considerable importance on qualifying performance, consistent scoring across multiple cars and the additional points available in the reversed-grid race.
How the GB3 Teams’ Championship points system works
The GB3 Teams’ Championship uses the same scoring structure as the Drivers’ Championship, although only the two highest-scoring eligible drivers from each team contribute points in every race. Consequently, success depends on producing strong results across multiple cars rather than relying exclusively on one driver.
Races 1 and 2 award 35 points for victory, 29 for second and 24 for third, with points available down to 20th. A team therefore earns a maximum of 64 points per conventional-grid race if its drivers finish first and second.
Race 3 follows a different structure, awarding 20 points for victory, 17 for second and points down to 15th. Drivers can also earn one additional point for every position gained, up to a maximum of 12.
With three races remaining, the theoretical maximum available to a team is 189 points, comprising 64 in each of the opening two races and 61 in the reversed-grid finale.
However, achieving that total would require two eligible drivers to dominate the weekend and maximise the additional overtaking points in Race 3.
Under the official 2026 GB3 regulations, drivers competing only at the final round cannot score Drivers’ or Teams’ Championship points.
Rodin holds narrow advantage ahead of Barcelona
Rodin Motorsport enters Barcelona as the championship leader following a consistent campaign from Martin Molnar, Maxim Rehm and Abbi Pulling. Although its rivals have secured more race victories, Rodin has regularly placed multiple drivers inside the leading positions, allowing it to maximise the Teams’ Championship scoring system.
The team’s greatest strength has been the ability to collect points across all three entries. Molnar remains involved in the Drivers’ Championship battle, occupying fourth with 351 points, while Rehm sits fifth on 324. Pulling has also contributed valuable results, including her victory at Spa-Francorchamps and podium finishes during the second half of the season.
Rodin’s championship position changed significantly during the Donington Park weekend, where it overturned a 40-point deficit to VRD and emerged four points ahead.
The outfit subsequently extended its lead at Brands Hatch, collecting 101 points across the three races. Rehm finished second in the opening contest before adding fifth and seventh, while Molnar scored throughout the weekend.
Rodin’s advantage therefore increased to 16 points, leaving the team in control of its championship prospects heading into the finale.
VRD aims to overturn Rodin’s 16-point advantage
VRD Racing remains Rodin’s closest challenger, having led the championship for much of 2026 through the performances of Nikita Bedrin, Patricio Gonzalez and Rodrigo Gonzalez.
Bedrin has been the team’s leading contributor, securing six race victories and establishing an 89-point advantage in the Drivers’ Championship. However, Gonzalez has also played an important role in VRD’s campaign, collecting a victory at the Red Bull Ring and regularly contributing points towards the team’s total.
VRD appeared particularly strong during the opening half of the season, building a 47-point Teams’ Championship advantage at the Red Bull Ring. Nevertheless, its position changed when Bedrin encountered difficulties at Silverstone and Donington.
The latter weekend proved particularly costly, with Bedrin retiring from Race 2 before finishing outside the points in Race 3. Rodin capitalised on those setbacks to reclaim the championship lead.
VRD subsequently collected 89 points at Brands Hatch, although Bedrin’s penalty in the final race restricted its progress.
With just 16 points separating the teams, VRD requires a relatively modest swing to overturn the deficit. Its seven race victories also provide a significant advantage over Rodin’s single win in the event of a championship tie on points.
Hitech retains outside title hopes after late resurgence
Hitech enters Barcelona third in the Teams’ Championship following a remarkable improvement during the second half of the season. The Silverstone-based outfit has collected 691 points, placing it 67 behind Rodin and 51 behind VRD.
Deagen Fairclough has been central to that resurgence, securing seven victories during the campaign. After sitting tenth in the Drivers’ Championship following the Red Bull Ring, he produced three consecutive double-winning weekends to move into second with 356 points.
His latest success came at Brands Hatch, where he secured both pole positions and converted them into commanding victories. The results contributed to Hitech’s highest-scoring weekend of the season, with the team collecting 138 points.
Yuhao Fu and returning driver Kanato Le also played important roles, securing second and third respectively in the reversed-grid finale.
Hitech consequently moved ahead of Xcel Motorsport, overturning a three-point deficit to establish a 26-point advantage.
However, its title challenge will require another exceptional weekend, with the team needing to outperform both Rodin and VRD by considerable margins.
Palmer joins Hitech for decisive Barcelona weekend
Hitech’s Barcelona line-up will feature Fairclough, Yuhao Fu and British F4 runner-up Theo Palmer, who will make his GB3 debut after securing three victories and helping the team claim the British F4 Teams’ Championship.
Palmer’s arrival provides an opportunity to continue his development within the organisation following a successful season. However, his participation carries an important distinction in the context of Hitech’s GB3 title challenge.
Under Article 6.4 of the 2026 sporting regulations, drivers competing exclusively at the final round are ineligible to score championship points. Consequently, Palmer cannot contribute directly to Hitech’s Teams’ Championship total, leaving Fairclough and Fu as its eligible points scorers.
The situation places additional importance on Fu’s performance, particularly after his maiden GB3 podium at Brands Hatch.
Hitech GB3 Team Manager Phil Blow welcomed Palmer’s opportunity to experience the machinery.
“It will be an exciting opportunity for Theo to gain experience in GB3, and we’re pleased to be able to give him that opportunity.”
With Fairclough also pursuing the Drivers’ Championship, Hitech faces the challenge of balancing its individual title ambitions with the need to maximise points across both eligible cars.
Xcel remains mathematically in contention
Xcel Motorsport completes the four teams still capable of winning the championship, entering the finale fourth on 665 points. The team trails Rodin by 93, VRD by 77 and Hitech by 26, leaving it with considerable ground to recover.
However, Xcel has demonstrated competitive pace throughout 2026, particularly through Lucas Fluxá and Rowan Campbell-Pilling. Both drivers have secured victories during the season, with Campbell-Pilling claiming his maiden win at Donington before Fluxá achieved his breakthrough at Brands Hatch.
Fluxá’s reversed-grid victory at Brands Hatch provided an important boost, with the Spaniard taking the lead from fourth on the grid before controlling the race. Campbell-Pilling also finished second in Race 2, helping Xcel collect 109 points across the weekend.
The performances continued a strong second half of the campaign, although Hitech’s exceptional results prevented Xcel from retaining third in the Teams’ standings.
Fluxá also remains mathematically involved in the Drivers’ Championship, sitting third on 355 points, just one behind Fairclough.
For Xcel to challenge for the Teams’ title, both Fluxá and Campbell-Pilling will likely need to deliver strong results while relying on significant setbacks for the three teams ahead.
What each team needs to win the championship
Rodin enters the finale with the clearest path to the title. The championship leader does not need to win a race, provided its two highest-scoring drivers collect enough points to prevent VRD from overturning the 16-point difference.
VRD, meanwhile, needs to outscore Rodin by at least 16 points across the final three races. That would produce a tie, with VRD currently holding the advantage on race victories. A greater points swing would secure the championship outright.
Hitech faces a more demanding task, needing to recover 67 points to Rodin while also overcoming VRD’s 51-point advantage. Although mathematically possible, it would require sustained front-running performances and considerable difficulties for both leading teams.
Xcel’s challenge is even greater. The team must recover 93 points to Rodin, 77 to VRD and 26 to Hitech to claim the championship.
These margins demonstrate why Rodin and VRD remain the overwhelming favourites, despite four teams retaining mathematical opportunities.
For context, a first-second finish earns 64 points, while third and fourth collect 45. That 19-point difference would be enough for VRD to overturn Rodin’s current advantage in a single race if both teams finished in those respective positions.
Reversed-grid finale could prove decisive
Although the first two races offer the largest conventional finishing-position rewards, the reversed-grid finale could play an important role in determining the championship.
The format reverses the twelve fastest drivers from the combined qualifying classification, creating opportunities for teams to recover positions and collect additional points.
For Rodin, avoiding incidents and maintaining consistent results will be important, particularly given its relatively small advantage. The team has regularly collected points through several drivers, reducing its dependence on any single result.
VRD faces a different challenge. Bedrin has demonstrated outstanding qualifying and race pace, but the team will need strong contributions from its other drivers to maximise the opportunity to close the gap.
Hitech and Xcel could also benefit from the format, particularly after both demonstrated competitive reversed-grid pace at Brands Hatch.
However, the additional overtaking points introduce another variable. A driver starting further back can potentially outscore a higher finisher by gaining more positions, meaning the Teams’ Championship picture may change even without a race victory.
With the title potentially remaining undecided until the final contest, effective race execution will become increasingly important.
Barcelona set for decisive Teams’ Championship showdown
The final round will bring together two contrasting championship battles. While Bedrin holds a commanding advantage in the Drivers’ standings, the Teams’ Championship remains considerably closer, with Rodin and VRD separated by just 16 points.
Rodin’s strength has come from consistent scoring across multiple drivers, while VRD has relied on Bedrin’s exceptional race-winning form alongside contributions from Patricio and Rodrigo Gonzalez.
Behind them, Hitech’s remarkable late-season resurgence has brought it into mathematical contention, while Xcel remains an outside challenger following strong performances from Fluxá and Campbell-Pilling.
The decisive question will be whether Rodin can maintain its consistency or whether VRD can capitalise on its race-winning pace to reclaim the advantage.
With three races remaining and the reversed-grid format introducing further uncertainty, Barcelona promises a competitive conclusion to the 2026 GB3 Teams’ Championship.
2026 GB3 Teams’ Championship standings

Only the leading four remain mathematically eligible to win the title. Even with the theoretical maximum of 189 additional points, Elite Motorsport could reach only 634, below Xcel’s existing total.
