Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton continued the team’s momentum in FP2 at the 2026 F1 Monaco GP, full results below.
During FP1, home hero Charles Leclerc found his way to the top of the timings by the end of the session, with Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen rounding out the top three. As drivers left the pit lane, the majority of the field opted for the medium compound tyres, with the exception of the Aston Martins of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll. After his crash in FP1, Red Bull completed an impressive repair effort on Isack Hadjar’s car, allowing the Frenchman to rejoin the rest of the field on track.
Coming out of the tunnel and heading straight into the run-off area, Lando Norris found himself hopping out of his car, ending his session prematurely. The incident deployed a virtual safety car, as the issue identified with Norris’ car was battery-related. While drivers continued to acclimatise to the track and its conditions, a fight at the top between Leclerc and Hamilton continued.
With thirty minutes remaining on the clock, the field was split between tyre compounds, with some drivers still on mediums while others had switched to the softs. However, building on their pace from FP1, the Ferraris continued to look strong.
Heading down to Sainte Devote, Franco Colapinto locked up and sustained damage to his car, but managed to limp back to the pit lane. As the closing stages of the session approached, the entire field was on the soft tyres. With three minutes left on the clock, a late red flag was deployed after Sergio Perez’s brakes caught fire, marking the end of the session.
