MP Motorsport’s Tuukka Taponen won Feature Race 2 of the 2026 F3 season at the Spanish GP, while Campos Racing’s Ugo Ugochukwu finished second to secure the Drivers’ Championship and become the first American champion.
Taponen started from pole alongside Ugochukwu, with Pedro Clerot third and Taito Kato fourth. Championship rival Freddie Slater began eighth but dropped to ninth at the start, leaving him with ground to recover as Ugochukwu remained directly behind the leader.
Slater passed Yevan David for eighth on Lap 4 but then became stuck behind Enzo Deligny. His attempt at the Turn 5-6 chicane on Lap 10 failed, while Ugochukwu remained within DRS range of Taponen at the front.
Taponen briefly extended his advantage beyond one second, but Ugochukwu responded and stayed close. Clerot remained third ahead of Kato as the race settled into its final stages.
Late drama arrived when Hiyu Yamakoshi stopped near Turn 8, triggering a Safety Car on Lap 17. Racing resumed for a one-lap shoot-out, with Taponen controlling the restart while Clerot challenged Ugochukwu.
Taponen held on to win, with Ugochukwu second and Clerot third. Slater finished eighth, confirming him as championship runner-up as Ugochukwu secured the 2026 F3 title. Taponen’s victory also helped MP Motorsport secure third in the Teams’ Championship.
