Gastón Irazú strengthened his grip on the 2026 Formula 4 United States (F4 U.S.) Championship during the Labour Day Weekend Sprints at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP), taking pole position, two runner-up finishes and a Race 3 victory as the title fight moved into its final four races.
However, the Champagne Racing driver did not dominate the weekend as he had at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Zach Fourie claimed his maiden F4 U.S. victory for Kiwi Motorsport in Race 1, while Canadian Cole Medeiros converted pole into his first championship win for MLT Motorsports in Race 2. Irazú then responded in the finale to secure his seventh victory of the season and extend his championship advantage from 37 to 66 points.
Medeiros enjoyed the strongest points haul behind the championship leader, finishing on the podium in all three races, while Fourie’s breakthrough victory and Race 3 podium moved him ahead of teammate Caleb Campbell into second in the Drivers’ standings. Fernando Rivera also reached the podium for the first time with Crosslink Motorsports after finishing third in Race 2.
2026 F4 U.S. CTMP Qualifying: Irazú takes fourth consecutive pole
Medeiros opened the weekend at the front by topping Friday morning’s Practice session. The Canadian set a 1:20.704 around the 2.459-mile CTMP circuit, finishing 0.305s ahead of Irazú. Campbell followed in third ahead of Fourie and Clemente Huerta, while Luca Day, Ayden Kohut and Rivera completed the eight-car field.
Irazú moved ahead when Qualifying began later that afternoon. Coming off his perfect NJMP weekend, the Uruguayan produced a 1:20.801 to claim his fourth consecutive pole position and maintain his run of starting at the front. Medeiros remained his closest challenger but finished 0.331s behind, while Campbell took third only 0.054s further back.
Fourie qualified fourth for Kiwi Motorsport, with Day fifth and Huerta sixth. Kohut took seventh, while Rivera completed the order in eighth after finishing 1.986s away from Irazú’s benchmark.

2026 F4 U.S. CTMP Race 1: Fourie claims breakthrough victory
Fourie finally converted his season-long podium form into a maiden F4 U.S. victory during Saturday morning’s opening race. The South African had already collected five runner-up finishes and three third places during 2026 but had yet to stand on the top step.
Irazú started from pole, but Fourie immediately emerged as a threat and moved ahead at Turn 8 during the opening stages. Irazú responded three laps later, positioning himself for the preferred line into Turn 9 and reclaiming first place as the pair established themselves at the front.
Behind them, Campbell faced pressure from Medeiros. The MLT Motorsports driver eventually found a way past the Kiwi Motorsport car and moved into third before an incident involving Rivera and Kohut triggered a full-course caution shortly after the halfway point.
The neutralisation erased the advantage Irazú had built and gave Fourie another opportunity. At the restart, the Kiwi driver attacked on the inside into Turn 1 and remained alongside the championship leader through Turn 3 before completing the move.
Fourie stayed ahead for the remaining laps and crossed the line 1.185s clear of Irazú to claim both his first F4 U.S. win and his first victory in a single-seater. Medeiros completed the podium only 0.606s further back and also set the fastest lap with a 1:21.165.
Huerta took fourth ahead of Day, while Campbell slipped to sixth. Rivera and Kohut both completed nine laps before their earlier incident left them unclassified.

2026 F4 U.S. CTMP Race 2: Medeiros wins at home
Medeiros earned pole for Race 2 after setting the fastest lap during the opener and made full use of the opportunity to claim his own breakthrough victory in front of his home crowd.
Fourie should have joined him on the front row but failed to leave the pre-grid in the assigned order and consequently started from the pit lane. That left Medeiros with a clear path ahead when the green flag fell, while fellow Ontario driver Campbell settled into second and Irazú ran third.
Irazú soon passed Campbell at Turn 9 and began closing on Medeiros. Meanwhile, Fourie mounted an impressive recovery from the pit lane and reached third before a late problem ended any realistic chance of another podium.
Behind them, Rivera and Kohut produced one of the closest battles in the field. Rivera eventually emerged ahead and moved himself into podium contention as other drivers encountered trouble.
Medeiros faced sustained pressure from Irazú throughout the all-green race, with the pair remaining together until the final lap. They charged side-by-side towards Turn 10 and onto the front straight, but the Canadian retained the advantage to win by only 0.547s.
Rivera crossed the line third from seventh on the grid to claim his first F4 U.S. podium for Crosslink Motorsports. Kohut matched his career-best result in fourth, while Day finished fifth.
Huerta took sixth after receiving a one-position penalty for causing a collision. Fourie was classified seventh after his late problem, while Campbell completed the order in eighth.

2026 F4 U.S. CTMP Race 3: Irazú returns to winning form
After finishing second in both Saturday races, Irazú returned to the top step in Sunday’s finale.
His Race 2 fastest lap secured pole position, with Medeiros alongside him on the front row. Irazú made the start he needed and led towards Turn 1, while Medeiros settled into second. Behind them, Day challenged Campbell for third as Fourie and Huerta fought further back.
The leaders initially ran nose-to-tail before Rivera spun and brought out a full-course yellow. That eliminated the gaps between the front runners and offered Medeiros another opportunity to challenge the championship leader.
However, Irazú handled the restart and began edging away after Medeiros had a moment approaching Turn 9. Fourie, meanwhile, worked his way towards Campbell and eventually passed his Kiwi Motorsport teammate after spending several laps searching for an opportunity.
Irazú remained unchallenged through the closing stages and won by 2.046s, securing his seventh victory of the season. He also set the fastest lap at 1:21.104 and led all 19 laps.
Medeiros completed an exceptional home weekend with second place and his third podium from three races. Fourie followed in third for his 10th podium of the season, ahead of Campbell and Huerta.
Kohut took sixth, while Day finished seventh after completing 17 laps. Rivera again encountered trouble and was not classified after completing only three laps.

2026 F4 U.S. Standings after Round 5 at CTMP
Irazú arrived in Canada holding a 37-point championship lead after sweeping all three races at NJMP. Although Fourie and Medeiros denied him another perfect weekend, his two second places and Race 3 victory produced another 61 points and increased his total from 198 to 259.
The more significant change came immediately behind him. Fourie scored 46 points across the weekend through victory in Race 1, seventh in Race 2 and third in the finale. That moved him from 147 to 193 and, crucially, ahead of Campbell for second in the standings. Irazú therefore heads into the penultimate event with a 66-point advantage over his new closest challenger.
Campbell dropped to third despite scoring in all three CTMP races. His sixth, eighth and fourth-place results added 24 points and moved him from 161 to 185, leaving him eight behind Fourie and 74 behind Irazú.
Medeiros produced the biggest points haul outside Irazú. Three podiums, including his Race 2 victory, added 58 points to his total and moved him from 102 to 160. Although he remains fourth, he now sits only 25 points behind Campbell.
Huerta added 30 points to reach 126 in fifth, while Day increased his total to 96. Kohut’s Race 2 fourth place and sixth in the finale moved him onto 82, one point ahead of Rivera, whose maiden podium supplied all 15 of his CTMP points.

Kiwi Motorsport extends Teams’ Championship advantage
While Irazú strengthened his control of the Drivers’ Championship, Kiwi Motorsport maintained an even larger advantage in the Teams’ standings.
Fourie’s Race 1 victory and Race 3 podium led the team’s scoring, while Campbell and Huerta continued adding points throughout the weekend. Kiwi increased its total from 348 after NJMP to 432 and now holds a 173-point advantage over Champagne Racing.
Champagne remains second on 259, with all of its points coming through Irazú. MLT Motorsports follows on 160 after Medeiros’ outstanding home weekend, while Momentum Motorsports sits fourth on 96.
Crosslink Motorsports increased its total to 89 through Rivera’s maiden podium and remains fifth, 35 points ahead of Speed Factory.

Irazú strengthens title position despite two new winners
CTMP ended Irazú’s run of consecutive victories but ultimately strengthened his championship position. Fourie beat him in Race 1 and Medeiros did the same in Race 2, yet the championship leader still finished second in both before responding with victory and fastest lap in Race 3.
Fourie’s breakthrough win proved especially important in the fight behind Irazú. The Kiwi Motorsport driver moved ahead of Campbell into second and now represents Irazú’s closest mathematical challenger with four races remaining. Medeiros also emerged from his home weekend with considerably stronger momentum after taking his maiden win and three podiums.
Rivera’s first podium provided another notable breakthrough, while Kohut matched his career-best result with fourth in Race 2. For Kiwi Motorsport, the weekend added another victory and several strong finishes to an already commanding Teams’ Championship campaign.
However, Irazú remains firmly in control of the individual title battle. He entered Canada 37 points clear of the field and leaves 66 ahead of Fourie, having now scored seven wins and 13 podium finishes through the opening 14 races.
F4 U.S. next heads to VIRginia International Raceway for the penultimate event of the 2026 season. With only four races remaining across VIR and Barber Motorsports Park, Fourie, Campbell and Medeiros now have increasingly limited opportunities to reduce Irazú’s advantage before the championship reaches its conclusion.
