Morris Schuring raised home hopes at Zandvoort by setting the pace in Free Practice 2 (FP2) for the 2026 GT World Challenge (GTWC) Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup, leading a Porsche one-two for Boutsen VDS and Lionspeed GP.
The Dutchman produced a 1:34.450 in the #2 Boutsen VDS Porsche 911 GT3 R EVO he shares with Dorian Boccolacci, beating Ricardo Feller by 0.193s. Ben Green continued Emil Frey Racing’s strong Friday in third, while Arthur Leclerc placed AF Corse fourth and Klaus Bachler completed the top five for Razoon – more than racing.
Schuring leads Porsche one-two at home
Schuring moved to the front during the second 80-minute practice session of the weekend, going eight thousandths of a second quicker than the benchmark Alex Aka had set during FP1.
His 1:34.450 gave Boutsen VDS the outright lead ahead of Feller, whose 1:34.643 placed the championship-contending #80 Lionspeed GP Porsche second. Feller and Bastian Buus arrived at Zandvoort only 2.5 points behind Sprint Cup championship leaders Charles Weerts and Kelvin van der Linde, making their strong Friday pace particularly significant ahead of qualifying.
Green continued the impressive start made by teammate Thierry Vermeulen, who had finished second during Free Practice 1. The #69 Emil Frey Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO ended FP2 third on a 1:34.763, 0.313s away from Schuring and only 0.120s behind Feller.
Leclerc placed the #50 AF Corse Ferrari fourth with a 1:34.845, while Bachler immediately demonstrated strong pace on his return to the championship. The Austrian took the #914 Razoon – more than racing Porsche to fifth, 0.437s from the outright benchmark.
Fleming and Cheever set Gold and Bronze Cup benchmarks
Thomas Fleming produced the quickest Gold Cup time of the session aboard the #58 Garage 59 McLaren 720S GT3 EVO. His 1:34.906 was good enough for sixth overall and left him less than half a second from Schuring.
Fleming and Louis Prette were followed in the class by the #10 Boutsen VDS Porsche of Robin Knutsson and Gilles Magnus, which placed eighth overall. Tommaso Mosca and Matías Zagazeta completed the Gold Cup top three in ninth overall with the #51 AF Corse Ferrari.
Between Fleming and the second Boutsen VDS car, Eddie Cheever put Ziggo Sport Tempesta Racing at the head of the Bronze Cup. The #93 Porsche he shares with Peter Dempsey recorded a 1:35.018 to finish seventh overall, only 0.568s away from the outright pace.
The result continued a competitive weekend for the Bronze Cup championship contenders. Cheever and Dempsey entered Zandvoort third in the Sprint Cup class standings, 10.5 points behind Marvin Dienst and Rinat Salikhov after the championship remained unchanged during the previous Endurance Cup round at the Nürburgring.
Championship leaders outside the top 10
Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing completed the overall top 10 through Dani Juncadella and Chris Lulham. The #3 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO recorded a 1:35.096, leaving it 0.646s from the Boutsen VDS benchmark.
The Sprint Cup championship-leading #32 Team WRT BMW finished 12th rather than 11th in the official FP2 classification, with Weerts and Van der Linde recording a 1:35.175. The Belgian-German pairing therefore ended the session 0.725s away from Schuring while their closest title rivals occupied second overall.
Garage 59’s Dean Macdonald and Marvin Kirchhöfer were 16th, while Lucas Auer and Maro Engel placed the #48 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG 17th. The latter pairing entered Zandvoort fifth in the Sprint Cup standings and therefore also face an important qualifying session as several championship fights approach their decisive stages.
Guilherme Oliveira set the Silver Cup pace from 18th overall in the #5 Optimum Motorsport McLaren he shares with Mikey Porter. His 1:35.449 left the car just under one second from Schuring, while Jamie Day and Mateo Villagómez followed in the #34 Walkenhorst Motorsport Aston Martin.
FP2 largely uninterrupted ahead of qualifying
Unlike many sessions around the narrow Zandvoort circuit, FP2 ran with relatively little disruption. The main interruption came with approximately 25 minutes remaining when a Full Course Yellow was required to recover the #163 VSR Lamborghini after it stopped on track.
The final order reinforced Porsche’s strength on Friday. Schuring and Feller occupied the first two positions, Bachler was fifth and Cheever led the Bronze Cup from seventh, giving the manufacturer four cars inside the overall top seven.
Ferrari also remained firmly in contention after Green and Leclerc placed third and fourth. Together with Vermeulen’s second place in FP1, Emil Frey Racing ended Friday having featured near the front in both sessions.
Schuring nevertheless leaves practice with the fastest lap of the day. His 1:34.450 narrowly eclipsed Aka’s 1:34.458 from the opening session and gives the Dutch driver additional confidence heading into his home qualifying session.
Competitive action resumes with Qualifying 1 at 09:50 local time on Saturday, before Race 1 begins at 13:15. Both sessions will be streamed live through the GT World YouTube channel.
