Racing America has announced a new five-year partnership with Hankook Tire & Technology, which will make the global tyre manufacturer the Official Tire across several of its racing series from 2027.
The agreement extends Hankook Tire’s existing involvement with Racing America’s Formula ladder while adding the Trans Am Series and International GT (IGT) to the partnership. As a result, Hankook will serve as the exclusive tyre supplier across the organisation’s major road racing platforms through the end of the 2031 season.
The expanded agreement forms part of Racing America’s long-term plans to strengthen its championships while providing competitors with technical support and consistent tyre supply across multiple categories.
Hankook expands Racing America involvement from 2027
Racing America announced the expanded agreement ahead of the 2027 season, building on Hankook’s existing role within its Formula ladder.
That Formula structure includes the Formula Regional Americas Championship, Formula 4 United States Championship and Ligier Junior Formula Championship. Hankook already supports competitors within those categories, including through driver progression programmes and championship scholarships.
However, the new agreement considerably expands that involvement. From 2027, Hankook will also become the official tyre supplier for the Trans Am Series and International GT, bringing several of Racing America’s principal road racing championships under the same tyre partnership.
Racing America Chief Partnership Officer Scott Duncan highlighted Hankook’s commitment to competitors and the organisation’s wider objectives.
“We are excited to welcome Hankook Tire as the Official Tire of Racing America’s premier racing series,” said Scott Duncan, Chief Partnership Officer of Racing America. “Throughout our evaluation process, Hankook demonstrated an exceptional commitment to our competitors, teams, promoters, and partners. Their global motorsports expertise, technical capabilities, and long-term vision make them an outstanding partner as we continue to grow our racing platforms and deliver first-class competition across every championship.”
Hankook to provide technical and trackside support
The partnership extends beyond the supply of race tyres. Hankook will also provide technical support, engineering resources and trackside services throughout the Racing America portfolio.
Furthermore, the two organisations plan to collaborate on marketing and promotional initiatives. Racing America intends to increase Hankook’s presence across its events through trackside branding, digital content, broadcast exposure and fan engagement activities.
The expanded programme will support thousands of competitors and teams throughout North America from the beginning of the 2027 season.
Hankook’s increased involvement also builds upon its existing relationship with the Formula ladder. For example, the manufacturer currently contributes tyres towards Racing America’s driver progression initiatives, including the F4 U.S. Champion’s Scholarship, which helps the series champion progress to Formula Regional Americas.
Trans Am and International GT join agreement
The addition of the Trans Am Series represents one of the most significant changes under the new partnership.
The championship currently operates as the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli. However, Hankook will join Racing America’s road racing structure as the exclusive tyre supplier from the beginning of the 2027 season under the newly announced agreement.
International GT will also become part of the Hankook programme. Consequently, the tyre manufacturer will support categories ranging from the early stages of Racing America’s single-seater ladder through to its established sports car and GT championships.
That structure gives Hankook a presence across several different levels of North American road racing while allowing Racing America to establish a long-term technical relationship across its portfolio.
Five-year agreement runs through 2031
The partnership will begin with the 2027 racing season and continue through the conclusion of the 2031 campaign.
Racing America described the agreement as part of its strategy to work with industry partners that can provide greater support to competitors while also improving the experience for teams, promoters, sponsors and fans.
Meanwhile, Hankook brings an established global motorsport programme alongside its tyre manufacturing and research operations. The company operates across more than 160 countries and maintains eight manufacturing facilities and five research and development centres worldwide.
However, teams will have to wait for further information regarding the practical changes for 2027. Racing America and Hankook plan to announce tyre specifications, competition regulations, technical support programmes and onboarding information before the beginning of next season.
The five-year deal therefore establishes the framework for a considerably expanded relationship between the organisations, with Hankook’s existing Formula ladder involvement developing into a wider partnership across Racing America’s major road racing championships from 2027.
