Leipert Motorsport has confirmed its return to the Asian Le Mans Series (ALMS) for the 2026/27 season, announcing a three-driver line-up of Lance Bergstein, Nicolas Stati and Brendon Leitch. The German outfit will compete with the new Lamborghini Temerario GT3, marking the car’s first appearance in an Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO)-sanctioned racing series.
The Wegberg-based team will enter the #63 Lamborghini for its third season in the championship, continuing its long-standing partnership with Lamborghini Squadra Corse. The manufacturer will provide full support throughout the six-race campaign as Leipert Motorsport prepares to introduce its latest GT3 machinery to international endurance racing.
Alongside confirming its driver line-up, the team has revealed the livery of its new Temerario GT3, which will make its Asian Le Mans Series debut at Circuit Paul Ricard in November.
Leipert Motorsport prepares for Lamborghini Temerario GT3 debut
Leipert Motorsport’s return represents an important milestone for its partnership with Lamborghini, with the team becoming one of the first outfits to introduce the manufacturer’s new Temerario GT3 into international competition.
The Temerario GT3 succeeds the Huracán GT3, which has enjoyed considerable success across international GT racing since its introduction. The new model features a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine and has been developed to continue Lamborghini’s involvement in major GT3 championships.
The 2026/27 Asian Le Mans Series will mark the Temerario GT3’s first appearance in an ACO-sanctioned racing series, providing an opportunity for Lamborghini and its customer racing partners to assess the car in competitive endurance conditions.
Leipert Motorsport will receive continued support from Lamborghini Squadra Corse, building on a relationship that has already delivered championship victories and competitive results across several international series.
The German outfit has also unveiled its #63 livery, completing another important step in preparations for the upcoming campaign.
Its entry forms part of a two-car Lamborghini presence in the 2026/27 Asian Le Mans Series, with Dyfne Racing Team also set to compete with the Temerario GT3.
Bergstein, Stati and Leitch form experienced driver line-up
Leipert Motorsport will rely on three drivers who already have established relationships with the team, providing continuity as it introduces the new Lamborghini.
American driver Lance Bergstein returns after previously representing Leipert Motorsport during its victory in the GTX class at the 2021 24 Hours of Sebring.
Bergstein also brings experience from major international endurance events, including the 24 Hours of Daytona and 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. His background in GT racing will provide valuable experience as the team adapts to the Temerario GT3.
Australian driver Nicolas Stati and New Zealand’s Brendon Leitch also return following successful campaigns with the German squad.
The pair won both races during the 2025 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe season finale at Misano, demonstrating their competitiveness and familiarity with the team’s operations.
Leitch has additionally enjoyed considerable success with Leipert Motorsport, securing the 2023 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe Pro Championship.
The trio therefore combines international endurance racing experience with an established understanding of Lamborghini machinery, allowing the team to maintain familiar working relationships during the introduction of its new GT3 car.
Leipert Motorsport principals welcome new Lamborghini challenge
Team principals Marcel Leipert and Marc Poos expressed their enthusiasm about returning to the championship and introducing the Lamborghini Temerario GT3.
The pair acknowledged the significance of being entrusted with the car’s first ACO-sanctioned racing appearance, while emphasising their confidence in the team’s preparations and existing partnership with Lamborghini Squadra Corse.
Speaking following the announcement, Leipert and Poos outlined their ambitions for the upcoming season.
“We are delighted to be returning to the Asian Le Mans Series. Special thanks go to Lamborghini Squadra Corse for their continued trust and for the opportunity to make the Temerario GT3’s debut in an ACO-sanctioned racing series together. This is something very special for us and, at the same time, a great source of motivation. Our shared goal is to be competitive from the very beginning and fight for strong results. At the same time, we know that the first race outing of a new generation of race cars is always a significant step. Thanks to our long-standing partnership and combined experience, we are well prepared to overcome any challenges together. We can hardly wait to hit the track with the new Temerario GT3!”
The team principals’ comments reflect both the opportunities and challenges associated with introducing a new GT3 car.
Although the Temerario GT3 represents the next stage of Lamborghini’s customer racing programme, its first competitive appearances will require teams to develop their understanding of the car’s characteristics, reliability and race performance.
Leipert Motorsport will therefore aim to combine its existing experience with the technical support provided by Lamborghini Squadra Corse as it targets competitive results from the opening weekend.
Familiar driver combination supports Leipert’s preparations
The decision to retain drivers with previous Leipert Motorsport experience could prove particularly valuable as the team prepares for its third Asian Le Mans Series campaign.
Bergstein, Stati and Leitch have already worked with the organisation across different championships, providing familiarity with its engineering personnel, race procedures and working methods.
That continuity will allow the drivers to focus on adapting to the new Temerario GT3, rather than simultaneously establishing relationships with an unfamiliar team.
The trio’s experience also provides Leipert Motorsport with a combination of endurance racing knowledge and Lamborghini-specific expertise.
While Bergstein brings experience from longer-distance GT events, Stati and Leitch have demonstrated their competitiveness in Lamborghini’s one-make championship.
Their existing relationship with the German team could therefore provide a useful foundation as Leipert Motorsport prepares for another international endurance racing campaign.
Asian Le Mans Series prepares for 47-car European season
The 2026/27 Asian Le Mans Series will feature an unusual European-based calendar, with six four-hour races held across three double-header weekends.
The championship has assembled a 47-car full-season entry list, featuring two Hypercars, 16 LMP2 entries and 29 GT3 cars.
Leipert Motorsport will face substantial competition in the GT3 category, where eight manufacturers will be represented. The grid includes entries from Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedes-AMG, Aston Martin, Ford, McLaren, BMW and Lamborghini.
The championship will begin at Circuit Paul Ricard in France on 13–15 November 2026, before moving to Circuito de Jerez in Spain on 15–17 January 2027.
The season will conclude at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal on 19–21 February, completing the six-race programme.
For Leipert Motorsport, the championship represents an opportunity to continue developing its international endurance racing operations while supporting the introduction of Lamborghini’s latest GT3 machinery.
With Bergstein, Stati and Leitch confirmed behind the wheel, the German outfit will now turn its attention towards the opening double-header at Paul Ricard, where it will aim to begin its third Asian Le Mans Series campaign with a competitive debut for the Temerario GT3.
