AJ Foyt Racing development driver Aidan Schuh will compete with Kiwi Motorsport in the 2027 Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Trophy (CTFROT), continuing his progression through single-seater racing following his rookie Formula Regional Americas Championship (FRAC) campaign. The 23-year-old American will contest the four-round championship in New Zealand this January, gaining further international experience ahead of the Northern Hemisphere racing season.

Schuh joins the New Zealand-based outfit after competing with Crosslink Motorsports throughout 2026, where he secured his maiden FRAC podium at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) in September. Having transitioned from competitive downhill mountain biking to car racing in 2025, the Wisconsin-born driver will now face another challenge as he adapts to unfamiliar circuits and the championship’s new-generation Formula Regional machinery.

Schuh targets further development with Kiwi Motorsport

Schuh’s CTFROT campaign represents another opportunity to build on the experience gained during his first full FRAC season. The American competed in the No. 14 Homes For Our Troops Ligier for Crosslink Motorsports, which partnered with AJ Foyt Racing earlier in 2026 as part of its expanding driver development programme.

His strongest FRAC performance came during the penultimate round at VIR, where he secured third in Race 2 to claim his maiden championship podium. The result highlighted his progress since making the transition to competitive car racing, particularly given his limited experience compared with drivers who progressed through traditional karting programmes.

Looking ahead to New Zealand, Schuh emphasised the importance of adapting quickly while continuing to improve his competitiveness against an international field.

“My goal is to adapt quickly to the car, the tracks and the competition and to continue to develop as a driver throughout the championship in New Zealand,” he said.

“I want to maximize each session, become more competitive each weekend and put myself in a position to fight for strong finishes and podiums. Racing with Kiwi Motorsport in New Zealand will be another step in the right direction.”

Kiwi Motorsport’s Orton welcomes Schuh’s arrival

Kiwi Motorsport Team Owner Garry Orton welcomed Schuh to the organisation, highlighting the improvements the American demonstrated throughout his rookie FRAC campaign. Having overseen multiple championship-winning programmes, Orton will now support Schuh as he gains experience in a different racing environment.

Orton also emphasised the significance of Schuh’s association with AJ Foyt Racing and the opportunity to continue supporting his development through the New Zealand championship.

“I’m excited to bring Aidan to NZ, his growth in 2026 has been fantastic with massive improvement. Aidan is part of the AJ Foyt Racing junior program and I’m honored to be tasked with looking after Aidan in NZ. It’s going to be a fantastic learning experience for him.”

The move strengthens Schuh’s development programme as he continues building experience beyond North America, while Kiwi Motorsport gains another driver with recent Formula Regional competition experience.

Schuh prepares for four-round CTFROT campaign

The 2027 CTFROT season will feature four consecutive race weekends, beginning at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park in January before concluding with the 71st NAPA New Zealand Grand Prix at Highlands Motorsport Park.

The championship will introduce new-generation Formula Regional machinery and feature a full 22-driver field, providing Schuh with an opportunity to compete against international opposition while adapting to different circuits and technical demands.

With the series taking place during the North American offseason, Schuh will gain additional competitive mileage before continuing his wider single-seater development programme. His participation with Kiwi Motorsport therefore represents another step in his progression following an encouraging rookie FRAC season and his maiden championship podium at VIR.
