No special preparation needed ahead of F1 Imola GP – Hamilton
Speaking in his print media session on Thursday, the 7-time World Champion said that he didn’t have to prepare anything different coming into the weekend. Despite the mounting expectations the Tifosi have for Ferrari, he stated that it all comes down to greatness. He then added that he is excited to see more fans rocking the Ferrari red.
“I didn’t prepare any differently. I prepared the same. I was at the factory for two days on Tuesday and Wednesday. I don’t know what to expect. I’ve been here all these years. I’ve seen Tifosi, I’ve gone on stage just after the Ferrari drivers. We’ve seen all these different places. We’ve got the amazing support.
“Even just at the factory, when you’re walking around the factory, there’s people at the gate every day. It’s pretty incredible the support this team has. There’s just a lot of high hope and a lot of expectation, of course. But that comes with greatness.
“When you’ve got a great team, that’s what people expect. But I don’t approach it any differently. I want to get good points first. Naturally, I want to get good points every weekend. But I’m definitely excited to see more red.“
Hamilton’s continued Ferrari exploration ahead of F1 Imola GP
The 105-time Grand Prix winner stated that in his pursuit with the prancing horses, there are things that he finds new. He added that throughout his pursuit, being in Italy, in red. It made him realise that he’s now part of Ferrari.
“I mean, there’s a lot when you’re inside the team that you’re like, ‘wow, I didn’t know about this’, and I’m going to elaborate on those. But everything’s kind of a new experience. It’s the first time I’ve been at the European races and seen the trucks.
“So today I got here and I didn’t know where I was going. I had to have someone show me around. I’ve seen these hospitality trucks since I started in Formula 1 in 2007. I’m pretty sure they had them in 2007, or at least 2009 or something. And I’ve walked past them, I’ve never been inside. And if I’m really honest, I was scared to step inside because I was in another team, so I never went past the first step.
“So today is my first time walking around this building and it’s kind of a realisation I’m finally here. It’s another realisation that I’m here. And I guess it’s really just the… You know that Italians are passionate, you know that there is passion around Ferrari. It’s a lot more than you expect when you’re actually in it. And it’s beautiful.“
