Joshua Dufek and Noah Strømsted have been penalised following the Formula 3 Feature Race on the streets of Monte Carlo.

Dufek penalised after turn 10 Incident

Hitech driver Joshua Dufek received a 10-second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage. The stewards deemed Dufek to have gained a lasting benefit in a wheel-to-wheel collision with Campos Racing’s Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak.

This collision saw the pair attempt to get through the Nouvelle chicane. The Austrian driver was defending from Inthraphuvasak, and both drivers failed to make the corner. A review from the stewards concluded that Dufek rejoined the track and maintained an advantage he would not have had if he stayed on track.

As a result of this post-race penalty, Dufek drops from 12th to 17th in the final classifications.

Strømsted drops to 18th after pit exit move

TRIDENT’s Noah Strømsted was also penalised for a similar incident. During a battle with AIX Racing’s Brad Benavides, Strømsted drove into the pit exit area at the inside of Turn 1. Drivers are unable to cross the white line of the pit exit unless they are coming out from a pitstop, as it is deemed dangerous.

The Danish driver was able to overtake his American rival with this move. As he failed to give the position back, the stewards concluded that Strømsted gained a lasting advantage by using an area “off-track.” In turn, the TRIDENT driver was handed a 10-second time penalty. Ultimately adding insult to injury for TRIDENT and Strømsted, moving from P14 to P18.

Formula 3 will be back this weekend in Barcelona for the final round of the triple header. Both Dufek and Strømsted will be eager to make up for disappointing weekends in Monaco.
