Nineteen-year-old Portuguese driver Ivan Domingues made his FIA Formula 3 debut in 2025 with Van Amersfoort Racing. Currently sitting 14th in the Championship standings, Domingues trails just behind his teammates, who occupy P7 and P8. He earned all 18 of his points in the most recent round in Spain — a turning point in his season so far.

Round 1 in Australia

An eventful Qualifying session, disrupted multiple times, left Domingues starting from P27. He climbed to P22 in the Sprint Race and went on to finish P20 in a wet and challenging Feature Race on Sunday.

Round 2 in Bahrain

Qualifying proved difficult in Bahrain, with Domingues managing only P23. His Sprint Race ended prematurely after a collision, and although contact with two other cars hindered his Feature Race, he carried on to finish in P19.

Round 3 in Imola

Once again, a disrupted Qualifying session left Domingues in P24. He spun at the start of the Sprint Race but recovered to P25. The Feature Race ended early after a collision with Benavides sent him spinning into the gravel.

Round 4 in Monaco

Monaco’s split Qualifying format placed Domingues P17 overall from Group A. In the Sprint Race, contact with Hedley before Portier forced the latter out of both the Feature Race and the following round in Spain. Domingues could only manage P20 in the chaotic Feature Race.

Round 5 in Spain

Spain marked a dramatic shift in fortunes for Domingues. Although his initial lap in qualifying was deleted due to track limits, he recovered to secure P7. He then made history in the Sprint Race, becoming the first Portuguese driver to win in FIA F3, leading a Van Amersfoort Racing 1–2 finish alongside teammate Ramos.

In the Feature Race, Domingues continued to impress, improving on his starting position to finish P6 and collecting further valuable points.

Which round brought home the most points?

Without question, Spain stands out as Domingues’ strongest round to date. It delivered all 18 of his championship points — the only points he’s scored so far after a win in the Sprint Race. This saw a 1-2 for Van Amersfoort Racing, a historic moment for the team, and monumental points for the Portuguese driver.

This marked Domingues’ first FIA Formula 3 victory and a historic milestone, as he became the first Portuguese driver to win in the category. With such a breakthrough moment, it would come as no surprise to see Domingues and the Van Amersfoort Racing squad continue their climb up the standings.
