A talented young driver duo will be back behind the wheel of NEOM McLaren’s challengers for Formula E ‘s Berlin Rookie test, set to take place in July. In fact, Alex Dunne and Ella Lloyd will resume their tesing roles after their previous opportunities to test the Gen3Evo car.

A busy 2025 for the consolidating talent

McLaren Driver Development Program trainee Lloyd will resume from her P7 finish scored in the Women’s Testing. The 19 years-old Welsh is currently undertaking her first ever F1 Academy season, even achieving her first ever win in the chapionhsip at Jeddah, as well as taking part in a second British F4 year.

Lloyd, who has also been performing simulator duties for the papaya team, is excited to have another McLaren Formula E opportunity, as she said:

I’m really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the GEN3 Evo car again with the NEOM McLaren Formula E Team. I learnt so much at the Women’s Test in Madrid and I’m excited to have another opportunity to get out on track and put all the preparation I’ve been doing in the simulator into practice.

A stellar curriculum

However, she will not team up with Bianca Bustamante this time round. 2025 Formula 2 championship leader Alex Dunne will join her in Germany for the rookie experience. In spite of his young age, Dunne has a stellar feeder series career behind him, which include the victory of the 2022 British Formula 4 championship, an overall P2 in the 2023 edition of the GB3 championship and two Formula 3 podiums.

Dunne, who has won two Formula 2 races so far with Rodin Motorsport, is returning behind the wheel of the Gen3Evo challenger after the Jeddah rookie test held in February. He serves as Reserve driver for NEOM McLaren in Formula E, and he is pleased about the new challenge:ù

“I’m very excited to be getting another opportunity in the GEN3 Evo at the Berlin Rookie Test next month. Since I joined the team as Reserve and Development Driver, I’ve learnt so much about what it takes to get the maximum out of these cars, and I can’t wait to get out on track again.”
