Following a promising showing in Barcelona, Invicta Racing’s Roman Stanek is setting his sights on a top result at the Austrian GP. Despite qualifying fourth in Spain, the Czech driver slipped down the order to finish a frustrating 11th in the Feature Race. Yet with evident pace and determined preparation, Stanek remains optimistic about his potential in Spielberg.
Focused preparation for the Red Bull Ring
Approaching the Austrian GP with confidence, Stanek has put in the hard work behind the scenes to maximize his performance. Extensive simulator work and a strong understanding of the Red Bull Ring have given him faith in both himself and the team.
Stanek believes the pace shown in Barcelona can serve as a springboard for improved results in Austria. His fourth-place qualifying effort there left him just a tenth off the front row.
“I’m feeling good coming into the weekend. I’ll be doing my best as always and also enjoy the moment. I think we have a good package for this weekend, and I’ve prepared quite a lot for this double-header on the simulator, for both the Red Bull Ring and Silverstone.”
“We showed our speed in Barcelona, Qualifying in fourth, missing less than a tenth to P2. I think we can do the same here to be honest because I’m feeling strong at the moment.”
Acknowledging the competitiveness of the field, he’s doubled down on preparation ahead of the Austrian GP in hopes of closing the gap to his rivals.
“In the races, a bit more luck could go our way than in Barcelona and a bit more work from my side – I still need to improve but we’re on a good path.
“I feel very confident, I’m enjoying things, working with the team and things are good at the moment.”
Precision the key to success in Spielberg
As the Red Bull Ring demands accuracy and balance, Stanek knows that executing a strong Qualifying could make all the difference. He also underlined the importance of strategic execution during the race.
“You need to have good machinery in your hands, be on it and nail the laps in Qualifying in order to extract the best from the car. If the car is fast, you can be up there.
“In the races, it’s just about pace. In F2, it’s very important to have good pace and to get the strategy right, so you kind of need everything. This track is amazing to drive so we’ll be giving it 100%”
Chasing more in a demanding F2 field
Reflecting on missed chances earlier in the season, Stanek is determined to elevate both his own performance and that of Invicta Racing in what he describes as an exceptionally competitive championship. Despite the challenges, his ambition remains undimmed.
“I’ve missed out on points and I’m aiming higher. I don’t think my position is where I finished the last two Feature Races in.
“It’s difficult. It’s very difficult. F2 is such a high level. I honestly think it’s much higher than F1 because everyone has the same car and there are only very small differences. It’s all about the details and it’s hard to put everything together.”
“It’s not impossible, but I’m aiming higher. I’m trying to reach the top and I’ll keep on doing better each time.”
As the F2 grid heads into another challenging weekend at the Red Bull Ring, the Czech driver remains determined to translate his speed into results in Spielberg. With momentum from Barcelona, strong preparation, and unwavering ambition, Stanek is poised to make a meaningful push toward the front – and show that he’s ready to fight at the top.
