Championship leader Oscar Piastri started on pole position. He was almost half a second quicker than Max Verstappen in SQ3 as the Australian driver looked rapid from FP1. It was a good effort from the Dutchman to split the McLarens. Lando Norris was over 0.6s behind his teammate.

Charles Leclerc was best of the rest behind the top 3. Haas starred in Sprint Qualifying as Ocon lined up P5, with Ollie Bearman going from 7th. Carlos Sainz had a much-needed clean session to be P6.

Pierre Gasly and Gabriel Bortoleto also produced fine qualifying performances to start from 8th and 10th respectively. Both their teammates ended up getting knocked out in SQ1.

Some very big names were out of position. George Russell started P13. Lewis Hamilton was P18 after he locked his rears at the Bus Stop in SQ1. Kimi Antonelli went off from P19 after a huge spin through the gravel at Stavelot.

Unfortunately for Gasly, he never started the race on the grid as his car was wheeled off the grid before the formation lap. A water leak was suspected. He eventually joined it 2 laps down.

On the opening lap, Max Verstappen breezed by Oscar Piastri down the kemmel straight to take the lead with his skinny rear wing. From there he could manage things perfectly and take the win, fending off the Aussie and Lando Norris.

4th was Charles Leclerc, with Ocon, Sainz, Bearman and Hadjar completing the points.
