The cancellation of the IndyCar Laguna Seca Practice 2 session, follows a dramatic FP1 earlier in the day, where drivers tackled the circuit with hybrid power for the first time. Tyre degradation quickly emerged as a major concern despite the recent repave.
Álex Palou topped Practice 1 with a 1:10.170, narrowly ahead of title rival Pato O’Ward. Several drivers dipped into the 1:10s and 1:09s while track conditions steadily improved. The session featured multiple red flags, including a heavy crash for Devlin DeFrancesco and incidents involving Alexander Rossi and Josef Newgarden.
