Scuderia Ferrari have announced ahead of the F1 Hungarian GP that Fred Vasseur will remain Team Principal for years to come. After joining the Formula 1 team at the start of 2023, Vasseur has embarked on a journey of bringing Scuderia Ferrari back to the top.

The Frenchman has brought a wealth of experience into the team, having previously led the Renault and Alfa Romeo F1 Teams as Team Principal. In his second season with the team, Vasseur led Ferrari to challenge McLaren F1 Team for the 2024 Constructors’ Championship, narrowly missing out in Abu Dhabi.

Despite the proven success, along with ups and downs, Vasseur’s ability and future has been under speculation recently. With rumours swirling on whether Scuderia Ferrari would be continuing on with the Frenchman, this announcement has been quick to shut those rumours down.

Comments from Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari:

Ferrari’s CEO, Benedetto Vigna, acknowledged the strength Vasseur has built within Scuderia Ferrari. He went further to state the need to commit to his plans, and trust in them. Vigna emphasises the trust held in the Frenchman’s leadership. He continued to say that they maintained the same level of ambition, expectation, determination, and focus for the road ahead.

Today we want to recognize what has been built and commit to what still needs to be achieved. It reflects our trust in Fred’s leadership — a trust rooted in shared ambition, mutual expectations and clear responsibility. We move forward with determination and focus, united in our pursuit of the level of performance Ferrari has to aim for.

Grateful thanks from Fred Vasseur, Team Principal of Scuderia Ferrari HP

Fred Vasseur expressed his gratitude to Ferrari for continuing to trust and support him. For him, this contract extension is a challenge to keep pushing forward with the team. The Frenchman acknowledged that he and the team have laid strong foundations. Although, despite these foundations, the work still needs to be put in to build upon them.

The expectations for himself and the team are clear, and he remains committed to meeting and exceeding those expectation. With consistency and determination, the foundations build by Fred Vasseur will surely be built upon.

I’m grateful for the trust Ferrari continues to place in me. This renewal is not just a confirmation — it’s a challenge to keep progressing, to stay focused, and to deliver. Over the past 30 months, we’ve laid strong foundations, and now we must build on them with consistency and determination. We know what’s expected, and we’re all fully committed to meeting those expectations and taking the next step forward together.
