The 2025 GB3 Championship weekend at Spa-Francorchamps delivered high drama on track, but it also produced a fresh set of winners in the series’ special prize schemes. From record-breaking qualifying pace to standout race laps and consistent scoring, three drivers emerged as headline award recipients.
Ninovic and Le celebrate Cavill Pole Position Cup success
Rodin Motorsport’s Alex Ninovic and Hillspeed’s Kanato Le both claimed pole positions at Spa, ensuring their names were added to the prestigious Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup.
Ninovic, for instance, set the tone in a heavily disrupted first qualifying session. His lap of 2m14.905s secured his second pole of the season, which means the Australian now equals Hillspeed’s Freddie Slater at the top of the standings with two poles apiece.
Meanwhile, Le responded in style by securing his first career GB3 pole in Qualifying Two. His scintillating lap of 2m13.740s not only smashed the Spa qualifying lap record, but also underlined the speed he had shown all weekend. As a result, both Ninovic and Le collected a trophy and £300 for their achievements. Moreover, the overall season leader will claim a £2,000 prize at year’s end, with an identical award also going to their team.

- Alex Ninovic, Rodin Motorsport – 2 poles

Slater scoops Sunoco Fastest Driver of the weekend
Although Freddie Slater’s last-to-first heroics in race three stole the headlines, the Hillspeed racer also picked up his second Sunoco Fastest Driver of the Weekend Award of the year.
Slater set the outright fastest race lap of the event with a 2m15.048s in race two, as he stormed from 23rd to eighth. He also topped the lap charts in race one with a 2m15.881s. His benchmark was just a tenth quicker than teammate Le’s best, underlining Hillspeed’s pace advantage.
Xcel Motorsport’s Patrick Heuzenroeder, the Zandvoort award winner, claimed the fastest lap in race three on a drying track with a 2m16.575s, but Slater’s combined efforts secured the prize.

Ninovic named Omologato One to Watch
For the second time this season, the Omologato One to Watch Award was decided on a tie-break, with Alex Ninovic emerging victorious after a superb opening two races.
The Australian claimed victory in race one from pole, and then added third place in race two, scoring 59 points in total. Hillspeed’s Kanato Le matched that tally, but Ninovic’s race one win gave him the edge on countback.
The prize — a specially crafted timepiece from Omologato Watches, GB3’s Official Timing Partner — rewards the top scorer across the first two races of each weekend.
Omologato One to Watch Award Winners 2025:
- Silverstone – Freddie Slater (70 pts)
- Zandvoort – Patrick Heuzenroeder (64 pts)
- Spa-Francorchamps – Alex Ninovic (59 pts)
A weekend of milestones
Between Ninovic’s consistent haul, Le’s breakthrough qualifying pace, and Slater’s jaw-dropping race three drive, the Spa round underlined why GB3 continues to be regarded as a proving ground for rising stars. With the next stop at the Hungaroring in July, all three award winners will look to carry their momentum into the summer.
