Just two weeks after an exciting round in Spa-Francorchamps, the penultimate round of the 2025 Eurocup-3 season at Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto delivered history. Mattia Colnaghi sealed the Drivers’ and Rookie Championships, while MP Motorsport secured a second consecutive Teams’ title. The weekend, coinciding with Jerez’s 40th anniversary, featured a mix of breakthrough triumphs, dramatic incidents and a dominant Sunday performance that confirmed the Italian as the undisputed star of the season.
Race 1: Tarnvanichkul breaks through in chaotic opener
Qualifying on Saturday placed Kacper Sztuka on provisional pole, but a five-place grid penalty from Spa promoted Enzo Tarnvanichkul to the front row alongside Jules Caranta. At the start, the Thai driver defended aggressively, pushing Colnaghi onto the grass as the front runners went four-wide into Turn 1. Further chaos unfolded when Lorenzo Castillo collided with Lenny Ried, launching the Mexican briefly airborne and forcing an early safety car.
On the restart Tarnvanichkul built a gap, while Caranta and Colnaghi slotted in behind. The Campos Racing pair set the pace, leaving Colnaghi to defend from Valerio Rinicella. Ernesto Rivera’s charge ended with a mechanical failure, and Sztuka’s recovery was hampered after contact dropped him to the back. Despite late pressure, Tarnvanichkul resisted Caranta and clinched his maiden Eurocup-3 victory, leading a Red Bull junior 1-2-3 with Colnaghi in third.

Sunday brought Colnaghi’s crowning moment. Starting from pole, he launched cleanly and immediately established control over the race. Behind him, Sztuka held second, while Rinicella lost ground in the opening laps and fell into the midfield battle. Rivera climbed steadily to secure a podium finish, ensuring all four Red Bull juniors stood on the rostrum across the weekend.
The only major incident came on lap 14 when Jesse Carrasquedo clashed with Oscar Wurz at Turn 6, spinning the Austrian and earning himself a grid penalty for the next round. At the front, Colnaghi remained untouchable, pulling away to win by almost five seconds. The result secured both the championship and rookie crown with one round remaining, underlining his consistency and racecraft throughout the season.
