The final race of the GB3 Championship weekend at Donington Park delivered a dramatic blend of celebration and skill as Hillspeed’s Lucas Fluxa claimed his first-ever GB3 victory, while Rodin Motorsport’s Alex Ninovic secured the 2025 GB3 Championship title with one full round still remaining.

From pole position, Fluxa executed a flawless drive to lead from lights to flag, demonstrating both composure and control across 14 intense laps. Despite two safety car restarts, he remained unshaken, defending superbly to convert his maiden pole into a debut win in commanding fashion.

Lights out: Fluxa takes control

As the lights went out, Fluxa made a strong getaway, immediately establishing control at the head of the pack. Behind him, JHR Developments’ Bart Harrison, starting third, managed an early move past Fortec Motorsport’s Liam McNeilly to seize second place. However, the opening lap was far from calm elsewhere in the field, as a collision at the chicane involving Patrick Heuzenroeder, Reza Seewooruthun, Flynn Jackes, and Abbi Pulling triggered the first safety car period.

This early incident had significant championship implications. Both Heuzenroeder and Seewooruthun were eliminated from the race, removing one of Ninovic’s key rivals from contention. Once racing resumed, Fluxa handled the restart perfectly, maintaining his lead as Harrison and McNeilly gave chase.

Mid-race drama and determined drives

As the race entered its middle phase, the competition for podium positions intensified. Jack Sherwood of Xcel Motorsport launched a fierce attack after the second safety car restart, almost taking second place from Harrison with an audacious move into Redgate. However, he misjudged the manoeuvre, ran wide, and dropped back to fourth, allowing Harrison to retain second and McNeilly to complete the podium.

While the front-runners focused on their own battles, Hitech TGR’s Keanu Al Azhari steadily worked his way through the field to claim fifth, narrowly holding off Noah Lisle of JHR Developments, who finished just 0.178 seconds behind.

Ninovic clinches the 2025 GB3 Championship

The primary storyline, however, centred on Alex Ninovic, who approached the race knowing that he needed only to finish ahead of Heuzenroeder and Gianmarco Pradel to secure the championship. With Heuzenroeder eliminated in the opening-lap incident and Pradel later retiring after going off at Coppice, Ninovic only required a modest points haul to mathematically seal the title.

Displaying maturity and patience, Ninovic avoided unnecessary risks, managing his race to finish seventh. In doing so, he officially clinched the 2025 GB3 Championship crown, a full round before the season finale at Monza. His performance across the Donington weekend – including victories in Races 1 and 2 and a composed finish in Race 3 – underscored his consistency and racing intelligence throughout the campaign.

Impressive climbs and notable finishes

Further down the order, Max Taylor produced one of the standout drives of the race. Starting 16th, the Racelab driver carved through the field with a series of well-judged overtakes to secure an impressive eighth-place finish. Meanwhile, VRD’s Enzo Tarnvanichkul recovered from an early off-track excursion to claim ninth, followed closely by his teammate Patricio Gonzalez, who rounded out the top ten and continued his strong weekend form.

Behind them, Kai Daryanani (JHR) took eleventh, ahead of Rodrigo Gonzalez (VRD) and Kabir Anurag (Xcel). Bianca Bustamante (Elite Motorsport) completed the classified runners in fourteenth, while Deagen Fairclough finished a distant fifteenth after a late issue.
