The 2025 GB3 Championship reaches its thrilling conclusion this weekend at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, the world-famous Temple of Speed. Although Alex Ninovic has already secured the championship title after a dominant campaign with Rodin Motorsport, there is still plenty to fight for in Italy. Drivers now pursue the runner-up position, valuable Super Licence points, strong debuts, and final-round glory before the curtain falls on an unforgettable season.

Ninovic aims to break records as the battle for second intensifies

Eighteen-year-old Australian Alex Ninovic arrives in Monza as champion, yet he continues to chase more records. He already holds eight wins and eight pole positions, both the highest in the GB3 era. However, he now targets Zak O’Sullivan’s 2021 points record of 535. Since Ninovic stands on 446, he needs 89 more to surpass it — a challenging but achievable goal, especially after earning 84 at Donington Park. Moreover, he also strives to secure the largest championship margin in GB3 history. Currently, he leads Patrick Heuzenroeder by 113 points and intends to widen that advantage.

Meanwhile, the fight behind him remains fierce. Heuzenroeder defends second place with a 33-point gap over Gianmarco Pradel, and both aim to finish their campaigns on a high. With 102 points available this weekend, as many as six drivers can still mathematically clinch the runner-up spot. Besides Heuzenroeder and Pradel, Deagen Fairclough, Reza Seewooruthun, Noah Lisle, and Keanu Al Azhari also remain in contention. Consequently, the final races promise close, hard-fought action at every turn.

Beyond podium glory, there is another crucial battle — the pursuit of FIA Super Licence points. The top five drivers in the GB3 standings earn these valuable credits, which count towards eligibility for Formula 1. Ninovic already gains ten points for his championship victory, moving him a quarter of the way to the 40 required for a Super Licence. However, several drivers still have the chance to add points of their own. From Abbi Pulling upward, nine competitors remain capable of finishing in the top five and strengthening their long-term prospects in professional single-seater racing.

New winners and podium hunters

This year’s GB3 season already features 11 different race winners, underlining its competitiveness. Nevertheless, if two more new victors emerge at Monza, the championship will match the 2022 record of 13. Drivers such as Fairclough and Lisle have repeatedly reached the podium but have yet to stand on the top step. Additionally, Kai Daryanani, Abbi Pulling, Jack Sherwood, and Bart Harrison all seek their breakthrough win.

Furthermore, 20 drivers have already achieved podium finishes in 2025. Should one additional driver reach the top three this weekend, the series will equal the record of 21 different podium finishers set in 2022. Clearly, the level of competition this year has been extraordinary from start to finish.

Fresh faces and returning talents

The Monza grid welcomes both familiar and fresh names. August Raber returns with Argenti with Prema after making his debut at Silverstone earlier this season. Meanwhile, Hillspeed introduces newcomers Maxim Rehm and Zhenrui “Newman” Chi. Both drivers bring valuable experience from Italian F4, and notably, Chi already claimed a victory at Monza in June.

In addition, Elite Motorsport fields GB4 runner-up Isaac Phelps, who steps up to GB3 after an impressive season just 11 points shy of the title. His arrival adds further intrigue, as he looks to adapt quickly and prove himself among the best.
