Williams Racing announced it will enter the 2026 F1 season with a new name and logo, which are a callback to the team’s successful past.

In its long history with the sport, the Grove-based outfit has raced under different variations of the Williams name. The latest rebrand came in 2014, when the team changed its name to Williams Racing.

Starting in January 2026, the team will return to its roots as Williams F1 Team. A name under which Williams had great success, winning nine Constructors’ and seven Drivers’ Championships.

With the new name and logo, which honor the original design from when Williams was founded in 1977, the team is looking ahead towards entering a new Championship-winning era.

James Vowles on the rebrand

James Vowles, Team Principal of Williams Racing, said the changes were inspired by the team’s founder, Sir Frank Williams, and its long and successful F1 history.

“I am proud that from next year we will be known as Atlassian Williams F1 Team and carry a logo on our car inspired by our founder, Sir Frank Williams, and deeply connected with our decades of success.

“As a team, we are inspired by our past but excited about our future, and committed to writing a new Championship-winning chapter in Williams’ history.

“This evolved team identity reflects who we are, where we are going, and reintroduces our title-winning legacy to a growing F1 audience that was not following the sport when we were last dominant.”

While the new name and logo for the F1 team connect to the past, they are also intended to link the past to the present, as Williams hopes to return to its past success.

Williams Racing’s Marketing Director Marcus Prosser shared that the team hopes its loyal fanbase will love the change, while also giving newer fans a chance to connect with the team’s long and rich history in F1.

“With this new name and logo, our rich history is being reimagined for the future.

“It is inspired by our past, confident about our future, and clear about our identity – a Championship-winning Formula 1 team with a burning drive to win again.

“We hope our existing and loyal fans will love it. But we also hope it will connect a new generation to our incredible legacy, building the community of Williams fans that will carry us to our next victory.”
