Campos Racing has announced that Nikola Tsolov will join the team for the remaining 2025 FIA Formula 2 races in Lusail and Yas Marina. The Red Bull Junior Team driver will replace Josep María “Pepe” Martí and join Arvid Lindblad for the closing rounds of the season. Martí will race in Formula E with the CUPRA KIRO team for the 2025-2026 campaign.

Formula 2 debut

Tsolov was already set to make his first Formula 2 appearance with the Spanish outfit in 2026; however, his debut will now come sooner than expected. The Bulgarian expressed his excitement about stepping up to F2 early:

“Pleasant surprise to be doing the last 2 rounds in F2 already this year! Grateful to Campos and Red Bull for the opportunity and belief in me! I’m working extremely hard and I feel ready for the step, looking forward to learning as much as possible and gaining experience for 2026!”

Goodbyes and new beginnings

With Josep María “Pepe” Martí departing to Formula E, Campos Racing Team Principal Adrián Campos Jr. shared: “First of all, I would like to thank Pepe for all these years together since he made his debut with us in F4 Spain and later in FIA Formula 3 and FIA Formula 2. We’ve shared incredible moments, a great number of victories and podiums side by side, and on behalf of everyone at Campos Racing, I wish him all the best for the future.”

Looking ahead to Tsolov’s F2 debut, Campos Jr. added: “For Nikola, this represents a fantastic opportunity to begin his adaptation to the category—and to do so in real race conditions. We are already working hard with him so that he arrives as well prepared as possible for Lusail, which will be his first outing in an FIA Formula 2 car.”

Round 13 in Lusail will take place on November 28-30, followed by the F2 2025 season finale in Abu Dhabi, set for December 5-7.
