On November 12th, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing announced that the team had entered into a new contract with 2025 Rookie of the Year Louis Foster, continuing the partnership into the 2026 NTT IndyCar season and beyond. This multi-year contract extension comes after 2024 INDY NXT by Firestone champion’s amazing rookie season, where he took his first Pole Position at Road America.

The road so far with RLL

The 22-year-old Odiham, England native began his journey with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in 2025, following a championship win in the NTT IndyCar feeder series, INDY NXT.

Since joining the team, Louis Foster finished his rookie season 23rd in the standings, with 213 points across 17 race starts. Foster would mark his debut season with a high that few rookies achieve, a pole position at the XPEL Grand Prix at Road America, where he also achieved his best finishing position of 11th; having also led 3 laps of the race.

Foster and RLL on the multi-year deal

“I’m really happy to extend my contract with RLL.” Foster commented. “Having that consistency and sense of security means a lot—it’s great knowing who I’ll be working with over the next few years. We’ve built a strong, trusting group here, and that familiarity helps us understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses so we can keep improving together.

“I truly believe that consistency will pay off in the long run. I’m excited to get back to work with the team and help push us forward in a positive direction. Huge thanks to Bobby, Mike, and Dave for their faith in me, and to Droplight for their continued support.”

BOBBY RAHAL, co-owner of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing commented on the IndyCar extension:

“I was very pleased with the job that Louis did this season; he exceeded our expectations. I knew he would be competitive, but I certainly didn’t expect the pace and consistency he showed almost from the start.”

“Given his talent and potential, it made perfect sense for us to extend his contract, especially with Droplight extending their partnership with the team and knowing how well Droplight and Louis work together. I’m confident Louis will be running up front on a regular basis in the coming years. We’re excited to continue this next chapter with him.”

With MIKE LANIGAN, co-owner of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing adding:

“We at RLL are very excited to confirm that Louis will be with us for a number of years. With one year under his belt and winning the Rookie of the Year honors last year, our expectations are high to compete for the championship.”
