Pierre Gasly and Alpine suffered through a difficult campaign with the A525, with 2025 going down as one of the Enstone-based outfit’s most challenging F1 seasons. Gasly finished 18th in Drivers’ Standings with 22 points, scoring all of the team’s points across the year. Ultimately, this meant Alpine ended the year at the bottom of the Teams’ Standings.
Unsurprisingly, both driver and team were relieved to see the season come to an end. With the 2025 F1 Abu Dhabi GP marking the end of another season, attention quickly turned to 2026, as Gasly explained: “Yeah, it’s definitely there. There will be a lot of work to do over the winter. We already started for next year.
“On my side, I’m very optimistic on the car we are putting together, chassis-wise, engine-wise. I think everything is looking good. We’re hitting all our targets. I’m very excited for 2026.”
End of the road with Renault
The season finale also brought an emotional close to a long-standing chapter with one of Formula 1’s most iconic names, Renault. The brand first entered the sport as a constructor in 1977 and has since supplied engines to numerous teams such as Williams, Lotus and McLaren. With Alpine set to switch to Mercedes power-units from 2026, Gasly spoke about the emotional send-off the team shared.
“For sure, it’s been quite an emotional weekend for everyone in the garage. We did a farewell feature yesterday with all the guys. You see tears in their eyes. You just see how much it meant to all these guys. On my side, I thank the guys on the in-lap. It’s been a huge pleasure to work with all of them.
“Every single individual, whether it’s on the engineering side or the mechanics side, they definitely supported me a lot, rooted for me for all these three years. In the end, we managed to get a couple of podiums together. A huge thank you to all of them.
“I’m sure we’ll still see some of these faces in the paddock.”
It wasn’t the only goodbye of the weekend, as the final race of the season also marked Alpine’s final outing with the A525 — a car that caused plenty of frustrations throughout the season. He joked: “I told them to keep it out of my sight next year. I’m sure if we can put it in a corner in Enstone, it hasn’t been the kindest car to drive.”
