Dino Beganovic is set for his second full season in Formula 2, this time with the DAMS Lucas Oil team. After a strong rookie season with Hitech TGR, where he finished seventh in the Drivers’ Standings, the Swede wants to fight at the front.

After moving to single-seaters in 2020, Beganovic grabbed a P3 finish in the Italian F4 Standings before stepping up to FRECA the following year. While he impressed in his maiden year, his second season in FRECA crowned him champion with 13 podiums and four race wins. After securing the title, he moved on to F3 with PREMA Racing, where he finished sixth for two consecutive seasons. His F2 debut at the end of 2024 saw him grab a podium at the Abu Dhabi Sprint Race. The Swede continued to impress as he completed his first full season with Hitech TGR in 2025. The season illustrated how he prospered despite the challenges. Now, he is ready to fight with DAMS Lucas Oil.

At the post-season testing, Beganovic expressed his excitement about joining DAMS and being teammates with Roman Bilinski.

We have some great memories together from last year, it was a great time. So I am looking forward to building on that, now at the post-season tests, so it feels good, it’s a good group of people and I am excited to be here.

“I think my main thing is to get close to the team again, build that relationship, and build a team around me and Roman that we can rely on for the whole year and be happy with, that’s the main focus.

“Jak Crawford had great results this year with this car, so I have to keep trying to improve. There are still things to improve with the car and my driving, it’s the small stuff that makes a big difference in the end.”

Beganovic: “It was an up and down season”

The Scuderia Ferrari Academy Driver had quite a rollercoaster of a 2025 season. The Swedish driver acknowledged that the start of his campaign was a struggle, as he wanted better results. However, he still managed to end the season on a brighter note. He went on to have 11 points scoring results in the last 14 races.

“It was an up and down season. It was not the start that we wanted or expected at all, but it improved a lot, especially in the last four rounds.

“We found some things that we improved and after that, the results were coming, so I am very pleased with that, that we made a step there, and we had a good end of season.

“Even though somethings got away from us, I still feel like we ended on a high with Hitech, so it’s good to have that momentum going in 2026.” Beganovic stated.

Towards the end of the season, Beganovic looked strong. The 22-year-old stormed to victory in the Baku Sprint, and took a podium in the Feature Race. During the last race weekend, he took P4 in both races at the Yas Marina circuit.

Ready to fight for the title

In addition to his F2 duties, Beganovic took part in the F1 Abu Dhabi post-season test. The young driver has been part of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy since 2020. Thus, he completed 122 laps around the circuit in the Ferrari.

“I felt my whole neck, my back, everything was hurting.” he joked after the test.

The Swede went on to speak about wanting to fight for the F2 title. The racer also praised the two previous F2 champions, Gabriel Bortoleto and Leonardo Fornaroli.

“I am going to take it race by race, but I want to win races. I want to fight for the championship, it’s the big thing for next year.

“Looking at it, Gabriel [Bortoleto] and Leo [Fornaroli] are prime examples of that, how to win a championship, being consistent, being there every weekend, and not being outside the top 10.

“It makes a big difference in the end, and looking at the big picture, that’s what we are aiming for, always being up there.”

Set to spearhead the charge for the French outfit alongside Bilinski, the Swede will undoubtedly give it his all to be in the title fight with DAMS for the 2026 season.
