The upcoming Miami E-Prix will host the first Rookie Free Practice session of the 2025/26 Formula E season, with all 10 teams having confirmed their drivers.

The 40-minute outing takes place on January 30 at the Miami International Autodrome, giving rookie drivers valuable experience with the GEN3 Evo. The session is just as important for teams as FE races at this venue for the first time. Races in Miami were previously held at Biscayne Bay Street Circuit and Homestead-Miami Speedway. Therefore, track time and data collection at the new circuit will be crucial ahead of race day.

Porsche Formula E Team

Porsche has selected Ayhancan Güven, who impressed at the 2025 Berlin Rookie Test by setting the second-fastest time of the day. The 28-year-old Turkish driver has been part of Porsche Motorsport since 2020 and is the current DTM champion.

“I’m really happy about the opportunity to be back in the 99X Electric and to start the Miami weekend for Porsche with the Rookie Free Practice. It’s always an eye-opening experience to work with such a professional group of people, and I’m looking forward to it,” shared Güven.

Nissan Formula E Team

Although all teams may run two cars during the session, Nissan is the only team to do so with Gabrielle Minì and Abbi Pulling.

Pulling already has plenty of experience with the Nissan GEN3 Evo, having been the team’s simulator driver since June 2025. She made her FE debut in the inaugural Women’s Test in Madrid, finishing first, before completing 98 laps in the 2025 Berlin Rookie Test. Later, she participated in the second Women’s Test in Valencia, where she claimed P2.

Ahead of the session, Pulling said, “It’s a pleasure to be back on-track with Nissan Formula E Team and I feel very fortunate to be working with such a great outfit. I’m delighted to be trusted with this Rookie Free Practice session as it’ll be the first official running at a brand-new circuit for Formula E so data collection will be crucial.”

“This is now my fourth outing in the Nissan e-4ORCE 05 and, alongside my work in the simulator, I feel like I’ve now got a good understanding of the car. I’ve raced at Miami International Autodrome before in F1 Academy and, even though the track layout will be different, it will be a great spectacle across the weekend. My goal for the session is to fulfil my run plan to put the squad in a strong starting position to kick on for the rest of the event.”

Mini returns for Nissan as well

In the second seat, Formula 2 driver Gabrielle Minì has also impressed at Nissan, topping the timesheets in both Berlin Rookie Test sessions.

“It feels great to be back with Nissan Formula E Team in Miami for the Rookie Free Practice session,” said Minì. “I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the GEN3 Evo car following Jeddah and Berlin last year. We showed strong pace in both of those sessions and I learned a lot, so I’m aiming for more of the same this time around. The Miami track will be new for the teams, so the main goal of the session is to collect lots of data and information for the team to use throughout the weekend.”

Jaguar TCS Racing

Jaguar TCS Racing has signed Alessandro Giusti for the Miami E-Prix Rookie Free Practice. The session will mark the Italian’s second Formula E event, having also participated in the Berlin Rookie Test with Lola Yamaha ABT.

“I am really looking forward to driving the Jaguar I-TYPE 7 at the Rookie Free Practice session in Miami,” shared Giusti. “It will be a great feeling to test a Formula E GEN3 Evo car once more, and I am thankful to Jaguar TCS Racing for the opportunity and look forward to working with the whole team.”

Jaguar will aim to maximise the additional track time as they look to start building momentum after a point-less start to Season 12.

Lola Yamaha ABT

Australian-Japanese driver Hugh Barter will take the wheel of the Lola Yamaha ABT GEN3 Evo car. Barter has served as the team’s simulator test driver and participated in the Berlin Rookie Test in 2023 with Maserati and 2025 with Lola.

“It’s a privilege to continue to work with Lola Yamaha ABT on development for both the current Formula E car and the GEN4 car that will be competing from next season. Taking part in Rookie Free Practice is a great opportunity for me and I’m looking forward to once again getting behind the wheel of the Lola T001 and translating everything we’ve achieved in the sim to the track.”

Envision Racing

Continuing the trend of simulator driver development, Envision Racing has announced that Zak O’Sullivan will take part in the Rookie Free Practice. The session will be O’Sullivan’s third FE opportunity, following the 2024/25 Jeddah Rookie Free Practice and the Berlin Rookie Test.

“I’m excited to be driving for Envision Racing again, this time in Miami. I’ve really enjoyed the Formula E testing I’ve done so far, and I’ll be working closely with the team to ensure they head into the race weekend in the strongest possible position.”

CUPRA KIRO

Despite being a full-time Formula E Season 12 driver, Pepe Martí will take part in the rookie session to gain more experience. The 2025/26 FIA Formula E Sporting Regulations allow Martí to participate as he is considered a rookie until the end of his first season in the championship.

Martí’s FE career began with a rough São Paulo round, during which he suffered a major incident and a back-of-the-grid penalty for Mexico City. There, despite starting in P20, Martí quickly bounced back to secure P7 and his maiden Formula E points.

The Spaniard highlighted why taking part in the session is important, given his results and missed opportunities.

“It’s good to be doing FP0 in Miami. Following São Paulo where we missed FP1 and Mexico City where we missed FP2 due to a technical issue, having FP1 and FP2 alongside FP0 should set us up very well for the weekend. For me personally, it’s very exciting to be one of the first drivers to experience the track in a live session, and I’m looking forward to getting the season started again.”

Andretti Formula E

Andretti has confirmed that Norwegian Dennis Hauger will be in the Rookie Free Practice session. Hauger’s first FE outing came during the 2024 Berlin Rookie Test, where he placed eighth in the morning session and twelfth in the afternoon session.

Other than participating in the FE session, Hauger is preparing to debut in IndyCar, having impressed with a victory at the 2025 Firestone Indy NXT Series.

Citroën Racing

Théo Pourchaire will drive the Citroën GEN3 Evo in their first-ever rookie session as a team. Pourchaire brings valuable experience to Citroën Racing, having participated in previous Formula E Rookie Tests and Free Practice sessions.

“I’m really happy to be returning to Formula E for the rookie test in Miami, and I can’t wait to take on another new track. The last time I drove the car was in Berlin in 2025, so it has been a little while, but I’ll be doing extensive simulator work with the team to make sure I’m as prepared as possible for the session,” he noted.

“The Hard Rock Stadium circuit is new for everyone, so I’m looking forward to contributing to the team’s preparation and learning as much as I can in this unique environment.”

Citroën Racing has had an impressive start to the 2025/26 season, with a podium in São Paulo and a maiden victory with Nick Cassidy in Mexico City. Heading into Miami, they will be looking to continue their success and extend their drivers’ and teams’ standings lead.

DS PENSKE

Nikita Bedrin returns to DS PENSKE for his second appearance with the team. Bedrin previously took part in the 2025 Berlin Rookie Test, placing 14th overall after finishing the sessions in P7 and P12, respectively.

With his experience, he will focus on delivering consistent data for the team at the new circuit.

Mahindra Racing

Finally, Chloe Chambers will represent Mahindra Racing for the second time, having delivered a strong P1 result during her FE debut at the Valencia Women’s Test in October. Chambers topped both sessions, setting the fastest time of 1:22.767s for Mahindra in the afternoon session.

Beyond Formula E, in 2025 Chambers completed her F1 Academy career, taking P3 in the Drivers’ Standings and winning the Las Vegas finale. Therefore, with some home turf luck, Chambers will be looking to top the timesheets once more, but this time in Miami.
